MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell was seen dashing off the stage at his cyber symposium at the same time news broke that the $1.3 billion defamation suit filed against him by Dominion Voting Systems will go ahead.
Lindell attempted to have this defamation lawsuit against him dismissed during a hearing in June. But US District Judge Carl J. Nichols on August 11 ruled that the three defamation lawsuits against Lindell and Trump lawyers Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani, which are seeking more than a billion dollars in damages from each party, are slated to proceed in full.
Nichols noted in his judgment that the First Amendment offers "no blanket immunity" to Lindell in the Dominion lawsuit. The company alleges it was defamed by Lindell's false claims that it rigged the election against Trump.
The judgment comes one day after Dominion filed lawsuits accusing right-wing media networks One America News and Newsmax of pushing false theories about the election.

(17,042 posts)I don't like it that a corporation is representing good against evil, and wonder about precedents that will be set. I was appalled that companies can sue people for leaving negative comments on Yelp. I hope we never get to a point where rights of corporations supercede rights of humans. Even a**holes.

(92,433 posts)Lindel and others knowingly made false claims that have irreparably destroyed their business. There is almost zero chance that their voting machines will be used again in the red states
An example needs to be set against these people. They acted with malice and forethought and I hope Powell and Giuliani are disbarred, and they are all ruined financially

(2,059 posts)But weren't ES&S machines used in KY that gave McConnell, who had like an 18% approval rating, his win in KY? Including districts he had never won before?
So smear Dominion, who appears to be legit. But don't go after ES&S who maybe appears questionable?
Step 1: get Dominion out
Step 2: get ES&S in
Step 3: profit?
Not trying to sound conspiracy-theoryish. Maybe this has been addressed/debunked?
JohnSJ
(92,433 posts)claims about ES&S that could damage their business, then they have every right to sue for those damages
The OP is about Dominion isn't it?
Lindell was pushing lies about Dominion as were Powell and Guiliani(sic), and they made similar false claims against Systematic
What does this have to do with Kentucky?

(19,204 posts)About the same as a long dead Hugo Chavez has to do with it.
These doorknobs are just throwing crap around and hoping it sticks somewhere.

(21,648 posts)on voting. Slur Dominion to create doubt about the election outcome and make their own company the dominant one in future elections.
Would be interesting if this goal showed up in the Dominion suit in the course of proving not only falsehoods, but motivation in the slur of Dominion.

(17,355 posts)We know Qrump And GQPers are good at projection, and they claimed Dominion could be hacked. Believe your
Step 2 has a lot of truth, they couldn't hack Dominion and they know how to hack ES&S without getting
caught, or so they think. Watch reQublicOns go nuts if we said no voting machines period because paper
ballots can't be hacked. And they are the ones claiming voting machines are being hacked, but not our
favorite machines. ES&S is owned by die hard reQublicOns and they won't cooperate with anyone asking
questions. People don't need machines to make an "X" for them in this age of computer hackers.

This time, looks like Repub. people are the losers.

(13,874 posts)had always been that it is treated as a person in legal terms. It can own and sell property, and sue and be sued.
The new twist from United Citizens was that corporations are now considered to have a persons right to free speech, and therefore have the same rights in making political contributions.

after he found out a lawsuit he knows he will lose was allowed to proceed, he lost his voice.
I dont think Dominion will really be awarded the whole >$1b, but the award will be substantial.

(3,333 posts)he fled because of THAT news.
Could be his My-Depends had a leak. It happens.

(18,657 posts)He moves his head back & forth as if straining to see someone giving him a signal to go off stage in a hurry.
I don't see why news of the lawsuit would make him do that unless there were reporters ready to ask embarrassing questions.

(42,862 posts)It's just a clickbait headline from that Tweeter-er.
SCantiGOP

I saw it on several news outlets.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)... I really see no evidence that he "fled the stage".
