Just got the news.
He went on a trip to the beach with his friends. One of his friend's mother tested positive after they got back, and my son spent a fair amount of time with this friend.
We're all vaccinated, so there is that (WHEW!!). But still it's a shock.
The unfortunate part is that I spend time with my son when he got back, since he does live with me. Damn, how could I have been so dumb?? Awaiting my test results now, and staying quarantined from him and others.
Scary times we live in.

(13,524 posts)pre-emptive strikes against possible infection, what the hay!! Im thinking, big tasty doses of vitamin C (its just great for EVERYTHING, according to moi!!) and theyve been saying that vitamin D is great for staving off that bad bad thing, and staying well-hydrated wont hurt a bit and just
hang tough, and keep us posted!!
All best wishes to you and your son!!

Vitamin D takes a week to be converted to the form that can help fight respiratory infections.
If you believe in the vitamin D "theory"... ask you doctor immediately for a shot of Calcifediol.
This is the converted form of vitamin D.
It has shown to have some effect of Covid... but the results are marginal at best. It is NOT a cure.
Your vaccine should protect you and your son from serious illness.

(13,524 posts)But thanks for straightening me out!! (I just remember from back in the early days, it was said that people with higher D levels in their systems seemed to fight covid off better) -

I was told that Dr. Fauci takes 5000 IU or 125 mg every day. Not sure that I believe the source of that... but it could be true.

(42,770 posts)back then. People with Vitamin D deficiency were prone. Remember too blood type O had lower chances of getting.
It's all about data... And because of red states hiding #s we dont have enough to work with. Feel we are all running amok.

She was fine and contact tracing for her clients (she is an OT for developmentally disabled children) was the hardest part. She fortunately was only seeing four patients at the time...
She lives in an another city, so I was not exposed...

(7,412 posts)I go to work, I go to the grocery store, started going back to restaurants for indoor dining, I go visit my parents, I go fishing with people, etc. Everyone in my family is vaccinated. My dad flew to North Carolina and back this week for a business thing, we are going fishing on his boat tomorrow, I'm not going to not go hang out simply because he traveled, still have to live life.
I feel pretty confident in the vaccine. We have had several vaccinated people test positive for COVID at work in the last few weeks, they said there wasn't much to it, all said it was like a light cold or allergies. Considering how much more contagious Delta is I would bet more people there have had it but had no symptoms, I could have already had it and not even know it, they'll only test people at work that report symptoms.
