Who's life matters more to you, some stranger's unborn or your own? In my red town so many tell me their
main reason for voting "R" is "because we're Pro-Life". R's love that word come elections, and it's time we take
it away from them. We are the real Pro-Life party, we wear masks and take vaccines to help our fellow man we
don't even know. I don't need to list all the stupid things R's have done during this pandemic to kill people,
DU readers already know. It's time we start painting Democrats as "The Real Pro-Lifers" & R's as "Bring out
your dead". Midterms are fast approaching, let's take away one of their favorite talking points by reminding
voters of the 100's of thousands of needless deaths reQublicOns have caused. Believe my next T-shirt I'll have

8. Abortion restrictions are a manufactured issue.

The Red Team focus grouped this and found solid support from most evangelicals and many Catholics. They have used it as their primary wedge issue since the eighties.

Why does it work?

In the culture wars, sexual freedom is the most frightening thing to the American Taliban. Fear of pregnancy is (in their minds) the greatest deterrent to having sexual relationships.

They are not pro-life. They are anti-sex (unless blessed by their God in marriage).

10. Abortion restrictions are just a wedge issue

The Racist Christain Right LOST their battle to keep their lily white children safe from all those Black children after Brown v. Board of Education.

It wasn't until the busing experiment that Christains sought private schools--they'd fought against Parochial Catholic schools.

They lost the Race based education issue, and needed something else to draw the non-political church goers to the polls.

And suddenly, in the 80s, not ten years after Roe, when demographic trends pointed to the white population shrinking over time, The Church Fundies decided every white girl who was pregnant by god ought to have that white baby, or we'll be outnumbered. And, the Pro-life misnomer was born.

WHites are a mere 58% now.
Black folks make up roughly 15% of the population, as they have consistently throughout American history.

The remaining ~25% is divided among Latinos, Asian-Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, and those of mixed race.

If it were the Black women having abortions, would the Christain Whites give two shites? If Latino Catholics suddenly embraced birth control and gave up the rhythm method, think Whitey McWhiterson cares? If white folks lived the golden rule, would they be worried about retribution from "Others?" Asshats gonna asshat.

They support war, the death penalty, vigilantism and execution by Cop. They are in no way Pro Life. They are pro punishment for women who dare to have sex and enjoy it. They want to return to a time where White Men controlled and owned other people--servants, slaves, and their wives.

Patriarchy is the other virus killing us all.

7. I just remembered I meant to add this to my OP

We need some good campaign slogans for the midterms to paint us as being the "REAL" Pro-Life party.
"Vote for Pro-Life & Pro-Vaccine Democrats, not Pro-Death politicians." That's one, give us your ideas.
We need to take away one of their best campaign slogans and use it to our advantage against them.
