I've been tracking the Covid numbers since last year. Florida and St Johns County in Fl because that's where I live but also other states and counties where family members live. Luckily most of my family members live in New England where the states have a handle on the spread of the virus. Not so much Florida. Thanks to DeathSantis, the number of cases have exploded.
DeathSantis has also forbid the release of any daily State or County numbers. They are only reported on a weekly basis at end of day on Friday. They have also completely stopped reporting deaths by county.
I just recorded this past week's numbers.
Here's a recap of July and the 1st 2 weeks of August.
DO NOT come to Florida unless you absolutely, positively have to.

(1,160 posts)It's the students who aren't, and I'm more worried about whomever they'll expose.
I'm a teacher, and I'm really worried.
I don't know what I'd do if someone got sick because of school rules. I think I'd be devastated. I thought about quitting. I talked it over with my partner, but because I'm the "breadwinner," I don't see how I can.

(19,204 posts)I used to live in Clearwater, and Avon Park before that, but being born, raised, and working in New York my entire working existence, I couldn't take the culture shock. Waaaaay to red for me. So I hightailed it back to New York in 2004.
I still liked to take a few weeks in the winter and return to visit friends, but haven't even done that since COVID reared it's ugly head. I'd like to go, but no way, not with Gov. DeSatan running amok.
Best of luck to you. Try your best to stay healthy. Florida is full of redneck mutts who are trying to take over the entire state now, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.
Please stay healthy.

(2,220 posts)in January each year, and I saw them in 2020, right before it got bad. But I can't even imagine when that will ever happen again.
I have a respiratory condition that is increasingly limiting my ability to walk very far, and the thought of dealing with airports is overwhelming!
I guess I will know if the time is right to go again, maybe, someday...

(46,737 posts)WTF!
With such callous disregard for human life, you get the feeling De Santis is taking management objectives right out of a German SS handbook.

(6,115 posts)Still awful and still rising. Unless slowed, it will get to 1000 per DAY in a few more weeks.

(46,737 posts)These numbers are horrible, no matter how you look at them because De Santis isn't going to do a damn thing to stop it from going to 1000 a day.
What a disgrace.

(58,785 posts)Another 10 to 20 to 30 have very despicably high/close case rates, depending on how one defines that. It can be massaged to exclude some of the New England states included at the higher number. (All states require comparison to worse to look good regardless, even Hawaii at the bottom.)
Just for something to hug to yourself. Plenty of geographic shame and blame to go around.
