According to The New York Times, Graham called Biden shortly after the election to try and repair their fractured friendship, allegedly telling the president-elect that he only attacked Hunter to satisfy Trump supporterseven as he called for a special prosecutor to look into the younger Bidens business dealings.
Biden, however, was reportedly not interested in patching up the relationship, telling Graham he was trying to play both sides, sources close to the president said. Days after the phone call, the Times noted, Biden remarked to Stephen Colbert that Graham was a personal disappointment because I was a personal friend of his.

(16,847 posts)I predict that by the time he shuffles off the mortal coil, he won't have a friend left.

(17,986 posts)Joe Biden and John McCain were friends. Joe spent time with John at his ranch during his illness. He also consoled Meghan while Lindsey was sneaking around inviting Jared and Ivanka though the whole family had made it clear they wanted none of them..
Lindsey is worse than a slithering snake belly. He also screamed and ranted pushing Kavanaugh through.

(2,575 posts)attack on Hunter, but then, Lindsey Graham is one of those, "childless," people Fox recently attacked, I don't think they will let irony or hypocrisy stop them, it never has.

(52,163 posts)Honestly Biden would have to be put up for sainthood if he forgave Graham for his, especially given the 'reason' Graham gave. I would actually respect it more if Graham said he believed Hunter was corrupt.

(7,263 posts)He makes my skin crawl. Worse then Trump because I personally knew many just like him from my days in the good ole boy south.

(6,183 posts)His friendship is worthless; he's totally untrustworthy.
There's no reason to expend any time or energy fixing a relationship that he would shatter in a instant if it suited his needs.
There's and old saying, "with friends like him, who needs enemies".

(26,501 posts)words). Why would Graham want to "patch things up"? And not pursue this to the fullest extent of the law? I don't know about ya'll. But I'm starting to think Mr. Graham is not very honest or consistent........

(22 posts)Graham expects to be friends with Biden after he attacked Biden's son? Wow. Graham sold his soul to Trump. If they patched up their friendship, Graham would eventually do something rotten to Biden again. Graham is weak. You don't need friends like that.

(1,850 posts)Surprised because Biden is a good guy, wants to work across the isle, and they were friends.
Impressed that Biden showed strength, called him out and didn't accept his explanation/offer.
Way to go, Joe!

(129,130 posts)If Biden had still been in the Senate, he would have pre-dated every single one of the senior ones still there (including Leahy, ASS-ley, Feinstein, and Turtle). He was already there when they were first elected to the Senate. He knows where the skeletons are and where the bodies buried.
Just because he does that magnificent grin, doesn't mean he is some pushover.

I'm not surprised he's a good guy. I know he's tough and been around, but I would have thought he'd appear to mend fences. Again, glad and he's taking a hard line.

(129,130 posts)since this 2020 election and in the case of Graham, it probably happened even earlier after he lost his "shield", John McCain, and he went downhill ever since.
