A new bill backed by several House Republicans would impose even more restrictions on voting in Ohio, banning returning ballots via drop boxes and barring mail-in voting without an excuse.

House Bill 387, introduced last week by Rep. Bill Dean, R-Xenia, goes several steps further than an already hotly debated proposal from Reps. Bill Seitz and Sharon Ray: House Bill 294.
