Once that happens, it seems to me there is little to turn the tide blue again. The Supremes are already compromised and little more than a right wing rubber stamp. Lower courts are little better.
What's happening in the states is terrifying.
Can we GOTV our way out of this? I kinda doubt it. The GOP has been at this for DECADES. Blue Texas is, I suspect, less likely than Ahab getting his White Whale.
The Florida and Georgia governorships were just plain stolen. And upheld.
The greatest hope is legislation to save voting rights and prevent gerrymandering. And that is really in the hands of Manchin and Sinema.
I really am very tired of banging my head into a wall.

(7,447 posts)Guarantee you conservatives weren't giving in 09 when Obama had the House by a large margin and the Senate with 60 votes.
They went back to fucking work and 8 years later, they had total control.
Either we do the same or we quit, and then we deserve what we get.

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the Senate will be contested.
With numbers like that, I sure wouldn't be writing midterms off

(13,058 posts)You just can't do it at the drop of a hat. If the Justice Department tried to sue the MAGA assholes will use every trick in the book to drag the legal process out past the next election. But I agree that the Justice Department needs to try because we cannot allow them to suppress votes and steal the next election.

(13,058 posts)There is the legislative path and there is the judicial path. Failing congressional action the Biden Justice Department needs to step up and sue the hell out of those people who are doing their best to suppress the vote.
