Why the focus of Afghanistan on Kamala Harris?

Mike Pence wouldn't be under such scrutiny and criticism if 2020 had gone the other way.

Particularly in this administration, but really always, it’s tough on the VP when things go poorly.

Were you an active part of the decision-making and thus partially responsible for the failure? Were you a dissenting voice and thus lacking in influence or trust of those who do make decisions? Or were you not really part of the discussion at all and thus an inconsequential figurehead with no real role in important matters?

The fourth possibility is that you’ll be used as a scapegoat. I can’t think of a fifth beyond “never do things that the public perceives as a mistake” - but that’s a fantasy.

Whose focus are you talking about? If it is Conservative media than the focus is due to her being a black woman. I saw someone on twitter stating that Joe Biden did not have the same affect on Conservatives as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. I believe the person was as CPAC. The person mentioned that even though neither President Obama nor Hillary Clinton are in office merchandize critical of them are big sellers while items critical of Joe Biden, who is the current President, barely move. People like President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Vice President Kamala Harris can be used to rile up certain people. It seems to be harder to get those same people riled up about Joe Biden.

I have been following the Afghanistan crisis though, namely by following the Kabul Airport search terms on Twitter and there was an noticeable uptick in the last 24 hours in VP Harris related tweets. Many cite the same (right wing) news links that seemingly castigate her for going off to Vietnam and Singapore but then what happens is eventually people just start tweeting without the links, and it becomes a “thing” people are talking about. Regular media has been reporting on her departure as well (even trustworthy sources like NPR https://www.npr.org/2021/08/20/1025315410/vice-president-harris-heads-to-vietnam-as-the-shadow-of-afghanistan-looms ) This is likely what the original posters has seen.

A POTUS and VP disagree on policy and I think they’re judging and hoping to find a chasm here (I’ve seen zero evidence she disagrees at all with President Biden, but she’s also been fairly quiet about this.) Media loves to stir up drama even when there is none.

Then there are the plain ole haters… she’s a democrat, she’s black, she’s a woman, they want to see her say/do anything that can be twisted and used as right wing propaganda.
