followup from this post a couple of days ago:

His test and that of his Mom and Dad all came back negative. They just found out.
He does have something, however and so will be taking a trip to the pediatrician this morning to get looked at.
Since he is 10 months from the magic age of 12 our daughter is considering sneaking him in to get vaxxed and lying about his age. At 11 he is bigger than most 12 year olds.

(30,613 posts)This 12-year limit is infuriating. Many Reptilian states are banning masks in schools; kids are banned from getting vaccinated, and force-marched into these death camp schools. This will go down in history as America's next shameful genocide.

the under 12 vax should be ready @ January - that is a long time to wait.
Can't imagine in the polio days that any parent wouldn't have done whatever they could to get their kids the polio vaccine.

(21,596 posts)The approval has been applied for and will hopefully be approved in September?
I took my 12 year old to be vaccinated a few days after the 12-17 age group was approved.
In the meantime, have him double mask.
My child double masks daily. Our school system has a mask mandate, most all teachers and staff are vaccinated, and vaccines are encouraged and promoted for children and their families. His school even has a county health clinic in the school where they can administer COVID19 tests and give vaccinations.

(62,423 posts)January. "Mid-winter" is what I have read. While the trials will be over in September, there is 3 to 4 month 'observation' period before approval. You may remember last year that the trials were pretty much over in September, but the observation period kept vaccines unavailable until just before Christmas.
You may also remember Trump trying to force the vaccines to be made available with no success before the election.
I think he double masks now. Arizona is of course one of the backward states that is forcing kids to go to school without mandatory masking.

"I think by late fall, we will have, if everything goes well, hopefully, enough information and data to support us for that age group," Luzuriaga said.
Data for children 5 to 11 could come sometime in September, depending on the findings, Pfizer told CNN it could ask the FDA to authorize the vaccine that same month.
Data for 2-to-5-year-olds could arrive soon after. For the youngest children, Pfizer said it could potentially get data in October or November, and shortly thereafter ask the FDA to authorize emergency use.
Emergency use considerations by the FDA can take several weeks, meaning a vaccine for younger children likely won't be available until late fall or even next year.
Pediatricians never feel like things are moving fast enough, especially when they have a patient sitting in front of them that needs something, Luzuriaga said -- but research takes time.

(21,596 posts)I was lucky that my child had virtual school from April 2020 to July 2021.
He finished the last quarter of 5th grade, summer school advanced math & English, all of 6th grade, & accelerated math this summer before starting 7th grade in-person this August.
He got vaccinated in June 2021.
I hope that your family and grandchild will be safe and well.

(13,496 posts)vaccines are uploaded into our health records, and all our immunizations are available to medical workers when the search. So, giving a fake age will most likely be caught.

(34,076 posts)But if we ever go back to the draconian pre-ACA status for health care it may haunt him.
Pre ACA, insurers would latch onto any voluntary risk-taking or pre-existing and use it to deny coverage for completely unrelated conditions. There are horror stories out there if you care to search.
Lying to get a vaccine before it is approved for age 11 would almost certainly be deemed risky behavior and/or a pre-existing condition.
Doctors have access to the vaccine records (my doctor told me when my vaccination took place, before I had a chance to tell him). It is likely insurance companies do, as well - or will gain access to them if they are trying to sneak out of covering a condition that develops later that they can even implausibly tie to this act.
AND - even if they make the connection, if they can prove he lied to get coverage they can yank t for even unrelated conditions.
I hope we never go back to that era - but the ACA was passed in 2010, and the most recent challenge was put to bed in June 2021. I'm not convinced they are done trying to destroy it.
