https://www.newser.com/story/310091/jeopardy-host-mike-richards-quits-amid-controversy.html?utm_source=part&utm_medium=uol&utm_campaign=rss_topJeopardy! needs a new host again. Mike Richards, who was chosen to host the nightly broadcast less than two weeks ago, has resigned amid controversy, reports USA Today. Richards came under fire over newly resurfaced comments he made several years ago on his podcast that were seen as derogatory toward women and Jewish people, among others. And prior to that, he had been named in a discrimination lawsuit. Production on the new season had started Thursday and came to a halt after just one day. The show will now renew its search for a permanent host and bring back guest hosts in the meantime, per the Hollywood Reporter.

(284 posts)but I didn't think he did that great of a job as guest host. He seemed uncomfortable to me. He did a fine job and I am sure he'd grow into it if he were hired, but there was just something that seemed off. I dunno. It's strange, many of the folks I expected to do great never seemed to find their groove and many of the ones I wasn't expecting much out of seemed to do well. Perhaps it was just me and my expectations, though. I actually rather enjoy the rotating hosts, personally, but I realize they can't do it forever.

(65,076 posts)I love Burton, but his gig their just seemed stuttering.
It just didn't flow.
And, because of your screenname:
Shaka, when the walls fell.

(8,445 posts)How about if they had champions on the show do it? I'd love to see Austin Rogers host the show.

(3,616 posts)But found his performance a let-down. I'd prefer Ken Jennings or Buzzy Cohen. My husband votes for Robin Roberts, who frankly did far better than i expected.

(32,645 posts)The Executive Producer is normally the guy who makes hiring and firing decisions. As I understand it, they normally are part-owners of the show as well. So Richards hired himself as the Emcee, and then fired himself when he realized it was a mistake that turned off a lot of fans.

I prefer Buzzy, but would be OK with Jennings.

(1,604 posts)But his week as guest host was underwhelming, to say the least.
The best guest hosts, with an exception or two, were those who had experience hosting other types of shows, and LaVar is really at his best on a theater stage or acting in a film/TV show. Hosting and acting are different skill sets, and he never seemed comfortable. Maybe he'd grow into it, but I don't see why he deserves the job over some of the other hosts who did a better job during their slots. There were plenty of the hosts who did great jobs, they'll find someone who fits the role better.

(16,319 posts)If he gets the job I probably won't watch much anymore, he is really distracting.
Joe Buck was the best, and Robin, Aaron and a few others were really good.
