My husband just got back from his annual check-up.

He said they checked for Covid anti-bodies and determined that his level was high, which is a good thing. His doctor said that three of his patients died from Covid in one day. He tried to convince them to get the vaccine, but they wouldn't listen.

Seriously, I don't think there are any anti-vaxxers on DU. We're all on the ball.

I can't imagine anyone admitting an antivaxx stance here, unless they were brand new and hadn't bothered to take a look around first!

No, wait, I take that back... partially anyway. We've had some antivaxx troll posts that were quickly alerted on and hidden, and the trolls themselves banned (at least till they come back under a new name).

So allow me to restate that: I can't imagine anyone admitting an antivaxx stance here, unless they were brand new and hadn't bothered to take a look around first, or they're deliberately trolling.

Seems like it's a good idea, in order to check on the efficacy of the vaccines. That information is probably being sent to a central location.

From the Alberta Health Services web site:

"A COVID-19 antibody test looks for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. If you test positive for these antibodies, it could mean that you already had COVID-19. If you’ve received the COVID-19 vaccine, it’s not yet known how this will affect the antibody test results.

Most people don’t need this test. Antibody testing is mostly used to help track the virus, and the test is not commonly done in Alberta. These test results still mean that everyone must keep following all public health measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19."

Note that a +ve test seems to mean you may already had Covid itself, but it is not yet known if vaccination alone will produce similar results.

Keep in mind hub may have had asymptomatic Covid but who knows?

Actually I kinda hope myself I have had asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic Covid as I imagine it too would help confer a greater level of immunity to potential future exposures.

Probably, a doctor who lost 3 patients in one day may have decided to take the extra step. If the levels were low, he would have probably written orders for a booster.

I asked my husband last night and he said he requested the test. Maybe we all should request it at our annual check-ups. I don't know if there was an additional charge.
