Why is the Covid surge Biden's fault

I have read several articles in the past couple days and they all mention reasons for Biden’s decrease in approval. One reason other than Afghanistan is the Covid surge. How in the hell is this his problem, he has encouraged vaccines, masks, and social distancing….if idiots and Republican Governors ignore that advice and Covid surges because of them then it’s not Biden’s fault….it’s like the arsonists blaming the firefighter for not putting out the fire that they caused while also blocking the hydrant.

The President appoints the director.

I don't know if that's adding to a decrease in his approval, but it can't help

The current spike is not due to vaccinated people not wearing masks. It's unclear to what extent that may be contributing to the problem, but it's undoubtedly tiny compared to the problem of unvaccinated people breaking all the rules.

Not just not wearing masks, but also going yo super-spreader events and ignoring social distancing.

The CDC made no "rules" with the May 13 announcement. They "suggested" the unvaxxed should still wear masks. And they "suggested" vaxxed people didn't need to. Yet they knew about the Delta variant at the time, and they knew about breakthrough infections.

The agency Director needs to be fired

They're not an enforcement agency. They can't fine people for not wearing masks. That's not what the cdc does.

don't need masks and can go on as if pandemic was over.
Yet they knew variants were spreading.
It was very foolish.
And as it turns out, vaxxed people can get infected and spread delta. I really don't understand what CDC director was thinking.

They never should have said vaccinated can drop the masks, because as soon as they did states and cities dropped the mandates. They should have been in place until at least Spring 2022.

If we need to be always perfect, we'll never win.

Yes, the cdc should have continued to strongly recommend masks for everyone.

Did the cause any additional cases? Probably a few, few sure. But there's little evidence that catching COVID from someone who is vaccinated has led to many cases, particularly cases with bad outcomes.

I'd guess that vaccinated people not wearing masks may have contributed 2-3% of the recent cases. Just a guess, but we do know that a massive number of cases are being caused by unvaccinated people acting like it's their patriotic duty to infect as many people as possible.

It's silly to dwell on the effect of vaccinated people not wearing masks when unvaccinated people are breaking all the rules.

Totally on the Director. But that's a presidential appt

The OP was asking why his approval re: Covid was down.

It's all I could think of...the cases increasing on his watch etc

Unless the president is a republican, such as when 9/11 happened. Then, bad news means it's time to rally around the president and you're anti-American if you fail to do so.

Justice matters.

They know that Biden will take the heat for all these increases in Covid. And so many of them are sociopaths just like Trump - who didn't care about people dying either.

This was warned about. Getting a certain number of vaccinated vs variants. Republicans with Russia pushing lies about the vaccine.

The virus out break was never truly in control. Vaccination is the key.
