(my understanding is that if newsom doesn't get over 50% then the top challenger will "win." i hope there's a blue wave going on there where people are motivated to get out and vote rather than shrugging it off and not being bothered, thinking he'll stay in office b/all the other dems will go out and vote no on that recall)
They gave him a standing ovation!!! #VoteNoOnTheRecall California or well be Florida by Thanksgiving.

(3,981 posts)As the subject of the recall cannot be a candidate, a write-in vote for Newsom would not be counted, a spokesperson for the California Secretary of States office said in an email. "Only certified write-in candidates are counted."

(92,228 posts)The state has wasted 250 million dollars on this fiasco
This is the third attempt to recall Newsom, because the other attempts failed because they could not get enough signatures, and the only reason it succeeded this time was because they found a jackass judge to extend the deadline to gather signatures by 3 months

(70,711 posts)As you probably know, it started as a reform by the old Progressive movement, and the intention was idealistic to get rid of incompetent or criminal office holders , but it was turned into overturning election outcomes and an unscrupulous way to get the job.

It was a NO of course
The hard reality is that if the recall succeeds, it will be the Democrats fault, because the number of registered Democrats in our state is something like 45%, and the number of republicans are about 23%
The NPP are split, with an edge toward,
Voting is so easy here. Every registered voter is given a postage paid mail in ballot
No excuse not to vote NO

(12,281 posts)According to the latest data from FiveThirtyEight, a website that aggregates data from various polls, the average number of Californians who say they will vote to keep and vote to remove Newsom are both just under 50%.
Of the polls analyzed by FiveThirtyEight, the leading contender to replace Newsom is conservative radio host Larry Elder with about 19% of the vote.
If actual polling results mimic the polls, that could mean a candidate selected by about 19% of voters could replace a candidate that was wanted in office by nearly 50% of voters.
