E.T., Phone Hell? Creationist Ken Ham Says Jesus Can't Save Space Aliens

(HuffPost) Creationist Ken Ham, who built a giant Noah’s Ark-themed attraction in Kentucky, said he doesn’t think there’s life outside of Earth.

And if such life existed, they shouldn’t expect any form of salvation from Jesus Christ.

“Jesus came to save us, not to another planet to save another race of beings,” Ham wrote on Twitter, adding that it’s clear “salvation through Christ is only for the Adamic race,” aka human earthlings.

On the bright side, however, Ham said they won’t need redemption anyway ... since they don’t exist. The Bible, according to his strict interpretation, says only Earth was made to be inhabited, “and the other celestial bodies were created for signs, seasons, days, and years,” he tweeted.

Ham was responding to a recent poll that found deeply religious Americans are less likely to believe in intelligent life outside of Earth. He has made similar comments before, writing in 2014, “Jesus did not become the ‘GodKlingon’ or the ‘GodMartian’! Only descendants of Adam can be saved.” .............(more)

5. It's been a long, long while, but didn't Satan fall on this planet, so that's why we need saving?

Wasn't it Satan disguised as the snake, who tempted Eve?

Like I said, it's been a long, long time!

I strongly doubt there is more than a few technological civilizations currently in our viewing window in the galaxy, but I am hoping that we can uncover evidence of massive structures whether currently active or long since abandoned.

SF has dealt with this theme many times. On of the best is James Blish's A Case of Conscience. I also like Farmer's Jesus on Mars.

Earth has emitted observable evidence of technology for just over 100 years. The chance for one observation-enabled civilization to lock in on another is slim, considering the time required for radio waves to travel and the wide time span oven which another civilization may evolve.

10. Do aliens sin?

Seems to me that it wouldn't be right to accuse the aliens of sinning. What's harmful to the soul of a person might not be harmful to that of an alien. Maybe aliens don't commit sin as seen through human eyes. If an alien doesn't sin, then it doesn't need salvation.

But aliens don't exist, anyway, or Jesus would have told us about them when he wrote the Bible. And dinosaurs are the product of scientists' imaginations. The scientists find the bones all over the world and assemble them in fanciful ways to trick people into not believing in the inerrant word of God.

I think that a lot of the conspiracy culture that we're seeing today is a partial product of fundagelical brainwashing. When you've heard that shit all your life, it doesn't take much of a stretch to believe that the government is out to get you and that there's a secret cabal of rich and powerful people who steal our babies and rape them and eat them. In fact, saying that the vaccines are poison and are being used for population control sounds rather tame and believable in comparison.

12. That's not what Pope Francis said.

In an interview in 2015, several months after the discovery of Kepler-452b — a so-called “super-Earth” located approximately 1,400 light years away in the habitable zone of its star — Pope Francis was asked for his thoughts on the possibility of intelligent life existing on other planets.

“Honestly, I wouldn’t know how to answer. Until America was discovered, we thought it didn’t exist, and instead it existed,” the pope told the French news magazine, Paris Match. “But in every case I think that we should stick to what the scientists tell us, still aware that the Creator is infinitely greater than our knowledge.”
