General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI don't think full FDA approval of the Pfizer vaccine will persuade more than a few of the
unvaccinated to roll up their sleeves.
It is not as though they will suddenly lose the only reason they had for not getting vaccinated. Most will simply be losing the EXCUSE that kinda sorta maybe sounded like a reason. They are even now deciding what will be their new "reason" for avoiding the shot.
Many, if they were honest, (I know, I know!) would admit that they won't get vaccinated because that might be seen as "helping Joe Biden" by reducing the pandemic toll on his watch.
Mandates, please!

(52,163 posts)and that will make some of the hold outs get vaccinated. I do think at the margins it might help convince some, but the real effect will be increasing the number of people subject to requirements exponentially.

But my guess is you're right that its biggest effect will be on institutions to require vaccination, and growing numbers of those who are vaccinated should itself be a strengthening force for vaccination in general.
Most people, and especially those who run with factions instead of thinking, need the reassurance of believing they represent "the people," the righteous majority and the "winning" side, and that those they oppose are an undeserving minority who must be stopped. Getting harder and harder.

(3,370 posts)These are the same people who try to push MLM supplements and essential p6ils as cure alls. They constantly say that the FDA is too corrupt to approve of the oils/supplements and should never be trusted. I find it frustratingly amusing that they are the same people have been crying that the vx wasn't FDA approved.

I've decided I'm not interested in having this discussion with these knuckleheads anymore. At this point, my statement to the "hesitants" is "You're wrong and you know it."

The approval is equivalent to checkmate.

Most of these bullshitters are going to quietly get vaccinated to keep their job. Look at the NFL. Originally there were tons of morons unvaccinated. The league then put in a bunch of rules for unvaccinated players which made it more attractive to cut unvaxxed players and all of a sudden almost all of them "learned more" and "became comfortable" and "were convinced." Yeah, there are still some high profile idiots holding out, but any of the players who were even slightly uncomfortable in their job security got jabbed.
