Enough is enough.
Post after post references unvaccinated businesses and medical personnel. Too many of us have gone out (masked, of course) into our communities to buy supplies, get our teeth cleaned, attend a medical appointment, drive our kids to school, work, have lunch, and on and on while we hope for the best. The unvaccinated, and proud of it, are everywhere we go.
At first it seemed as though we were all waiting for effective vaccines to become available, and then they were. Increasingly voices from the back started to question the vaccines. Fine. But then the media amplified those voices and they grew louder. Deliberate misinformation from assholes with an agenda became so widely circulated we find ourselves where we are right nowin a pandemic crisis.
For us reasonable citizens, we feel as though any venture outside our homes is a harrowing gauntlet of risk. Yet, we have to take our chances because we have things we need to do.
Enough.
It is time to be as loud as the crazies and assert our rights. We need to call businesses and ask are your employees vaccinated? We need to ask the schools are those on your staff vaccinated? We need to ask our dentists and doctors are you vaccinated? Ditto for the nail techs, the mechanics, the store we buy food from. We need to inquire about vaccination status everywhere we go. All of us and constantly.
If we stop being so afraid of making waves and start asserting ourselves I would bet we would find that our push-back would get us some traction and we might turn this cornerfinally.
we can do it

(23,641 posts)When was out in this ungodly heat on an errand (never again)
they reported that employers were hesitant up til now to require mandates on vaccines because they were afraid the idiots would quit, and now are rethinking requiring mandates because the vaxxed would quit otherwise if they didnt
I hope that makes sense

(11,588 posts)The only way we can put this pandemic to bed is to use all the tools we have. Mandatory vaccines for one, and also mandatory quarantines for those who test positive. The next layer of protection is masks and social distancing.
Justice matters.

(11,588 posts)My point is that if we all routinely ask everywhere we go (by phone before or in person when we attend) we shift the focus to vaccines as the first line of defense instead of just mask wearing. It would pressure businesses to require their employees get vaccinated. Some are saying they are too short staffed to ask this of their hires, but that would change. Many people are reluctant to work right now. We've seen people walk off.
If we do not do this and throw up our hands we change nothing. People may be masking, but my gawd--too many of them have the masks hanging on their faces not properly covering or are wearing poor quality masks. I see people pulling their masks off their faces when they talk to someone sometimes. Kids often have no masks. Meanwhile, the Delta variant is raging and who knows what will follow.
Anti-vaxers are loud and proud. They are protesting all over the place. We need to exercise our power. As concerned citizens of reason we outnumber the others. Let us use that power to help end this crisis.
