(30,540 posts)and home sick from school, Fleming was so classy as host. Trebek was great but when I think of Jeopardy I always think of Art Fleming.

The daytime Jeopardy with Fleming on NBC ended in 1975 and the Trebek version didn't start until 1984 in syndication. There was a one year attempt to bing it back that didn't work out.

Jeopardy! is an American television game show created by Merv Griffin. The show features a quiz competition in which contestants are presented with general knowledge clues in the form of answers, and must phrase their responses in the form of questions. The original daytime version debuted on NBC on March 30, 1964, and aired until January 3, 1975. A weekly nighttime syndicated edition aired from September 1974 to September 1975, and a revival, The All-New Jeopardy!, ran on NBC from October 1978 to March 1979. The version airing as of 2021, a daily syndicated show produced by Sony Pictures Television, premiered on September 10, 1984.
Both NBC versions and the weekly syndicated version were hosted by Art Fleming. Don Pardo served as announcer until 1975, and John Harlan announced for the 19781979 season. The daily syndicated version featured Alex Trebek as host from 1984 until his death in 2020, with his last episode as host having aired January 8, 2021. Following Trebek's death, guest hosts moderated the show to complete the 20202021 season.[2] Beginning in September 2021, Mayim Bialik will host primetime specials on ABC and future spinoffs. Executive producer Mike Richards was initially announced as the permanent host of the syndicated version, but he stepped down after offensive comments from his past overshadowed the announcement.[3] Johnny Gilbert has been the announcer since 1984.

(8,445 posts)She was my favorite, and I'd be fine with having her be the permanent regular host. She kept things moving along so all of the answers could be read. Some of the guest hosts weren't very good at keeping a good pace.
I think what I like best about her is that she's truly intelligent, and that she seemed very comfortable as host.

(38,562 posts)I really do like her as an actress, but she shouldn't need to "act" when she's hosting a game show.
I thought Savannah Guthrie was the best host, followed by Aaron Rodgers. I didn't expect Rodgers to be as good as he was.

(20,629 posts)Jeopardy! is resuming its search for a new host after its first pick, executive producer Mike Richards, stepped down amid controversy over past offensive remarks. So who might take his place? Former champion Ken Jennings has long been a fan favorite, and in his newsletter What I'm Hearing..., former Hollywood Reporter editor Matthew Belloni reports, "I'm told by two show insiders that it's now Jennings' job to lose."
Similarly, CNN's Brian Stelter reports that "most of the sources" he spoke with "said Ken Jennings is now the hands-down favorite," with one TV agent telling CNN, "They have to give it to him now, don't they?" Stelter also notes Jennings was "said to be a finalist the first time around."
