Televangelist Gets Roasted For Saying God Cant Hear Prayers Through A MaskWearing a face mask has somehow become a politicized issue in the US. Theres still a minority that refuses to do so and calls others sheep for following the rules and trying to keep others alive. Jim Bakker, a disgraced US televangelist, is the latest figure to spread the good word. And as Gods shepherd of a different kind of flock, he has shared his religious views on the sins of wearing a mask in church.
How can you go to church and pray when youre wearing a mask?
Do you think God can hear your prayers through a mask? Bakker said.
Naturally, his questions have blown the internets mind, so Bored Panda has collected the best responses to them. Vote for your favorites and lets pray to God that anti-maskers will finally see the light.

(11,949 posts)Reading David Hume changed my beliefs and I think that quote is his.
Would like to learn if he lifted it.

(11,949 posts)Hume had to be very circumspect about his beliefs, or lack there of. Especially early in his life.

(42,567 posts)and you know me.
2You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
5You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
7Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11If I say, Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,
12even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

(21,768 posts)Instead, we allow him to shill on the public airwaves, sell poison like colloidal silver, use religion to fleece his flock, and give him a tax exemption, too.
Chicanery and fraud in the name of a god should be handled just like any other fraud.

(13,871 posts)It says not to pray in church, since that is likely done to impress others. It says to go into private and pray.
I served on a non-profit board for years, and objected to the prayer before the meeting. The group included two Jews and a Sikh, so I said the in your name Jesus prayer was inappropriate.
The group kept the prayer but agreed to change it to non-denominational, and I quoted the above passage as the reason I would not close my eyes, bow my head or participate.
It was funny that several members privately told me that they agreed with me, but would not acknowledge that in public.

It's common for us atheists to know more about the Bible than most Christians.
