Christina Bohannon to run against Miller-Meeks in Iowa-02

UPDATED: She beat a 20-year incumbent in 2020, now this Iowa lawmaker has her sights on Congress

A recently elected state representative and Iowa City Democrat, who unseated a 20-year incumbent in last year's primary, now has her sights on Congress.

University of Iowa law professor and state Rep. Christina Bohannan announced Tuesday she will run for southeast Iowa's 2nd congressional district seat held by freshman Republican U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

Miller-Meeks, of Ottumwa, won last year's election for Iowa's open 2nd district U.S. House seat by a mere six votes, the narrowest victory margin in a House race in almost 40 years, after Wheatland Democrat Rita Hart ended her 2020 election challenge before the U.S. House in March.

"I really believe we need a government that works for the people," and not special interests, Bohannan told the Quad-City Times in an exclusive interview ahead of her official campaign announcement.

"These life experiences inform Christina Bohannan’s pragmatic progressivism"

Can someone tell us what is "pragmatic progressivism"? It sounds pretty much the same as the Democratic Party & all the voices that have always existed within it at various times, depending what policy is on the table before them.

Why the need for labels, since non are THAT all the time.
Which btw, defines exactly the tenats of the Democratic Party.
Which is what pretty much what Christina Bohannan sounds like.

What's a pragmatic progressive?

Here's an article from July that talks about it, but pretty much defines the Democratic Party in the end.
So why the new loosely descript label?

It's a Democratic from Iowa City who doesn't want to be labeled as coming from the People's Republic of Johnson County or in Californian Nancy Pelosi's pocket. Iowa-NPR shared GQP Miller-Meeks response which was "she didn't vote for bill that outlawed mask mandates in schools".

That vote may actually help Bohannan.

...and depending on how they need their constituents to view her?

So there's not much difference but a 'label'.

Cripe.
