(27,813 posts)The NCAA Is going to ditch games where teams have COVID (they will either be cancelled or declared no contest, depending on whether it's one or both teams). He hosts lots of high profile games in his ugly stadium.
If that's his reason, I don't care. Good enough for me. This nonsense had to stop.

(65,061 posts)...but they've enacted a policy, with player union buy-in, that if a team causes a cancelation due to an outbreak caused by unvaccinated players, NEITHER TEAM GETS PAID for the game.
They've extended the effect on others to the financial realm.
Right now, there are 9 of 32 teams at 100% vaxxed game day personnel.
Another 9 are >90%.
Last I heard, only 2 teams are under 65%. Bizarrely, one of them is the DC team that has a coach undergoing cancer treatments! Go figure.

(14,972 posts)MONEY!!!
This year, the NFL has decreed that if a game is cancelled because of a COVID outbreak amongst unvaxxed players (and cannot be rescheduled without disrupting the rest of the schedule), the team with the outbreak A) forfeits, and B) is on the hook for the lost revenue. That's tens of millions of dollars at stake each week for each team. (It's still possible a COVID outbreak amongst vaxxed players could be bad enough to cancel a game too, and I believe that the team would still forfeit but the financial penalty would not be applied)
When he talks about it affecting others, he's not just talking about illness and death. He's talking about his money. He's still Jerry Jones, after all.

(65,061 posts)...don't get paid!
Taking money out of fellow players pockets will be most unpopular!
There are lots of guys making just $600k, and will only be in the league 3 years. One lost check is 2% of career earnings!

(7,611 posts)Of vaccination? Kind of sounds like it.
Wounded Bear
(58,663 posts)the team probably doesn't have a lot of control over what the stadium does. That will depend on local county/state orders and whatever entity actually runs the stadium.
My local stadiums (WA state) are open now, but are bringing mask orders on line this week.

(2,223 posts)"even a broken clock is right twice a day."
not my most favorite person on any given day, but the man is making sense. however, the cynic in me senses a whiff of a self-serving agenda behind the position upon which mister jones is placing himself. dead fans don't buy tickets, nor do dead players win superbowls.

Still, all that "America's Team" crap really pissed me off. I root for everyone to beat the freaking Cowboys.

(8,748 posts)Is a trump buddy. One reason, of many, Im about to dump my 40 year fanship of the boys. But good for him. We are about to see a showdown of whos the boss in New England. Cam Newton will not Vax and Coach Bill may require them. Should be fun. Mac Jones, from Bama, picked in last draft may get the gift of QB start when the largest ego wins between ole Bill and Cam.
