The JRB era is going to be one historians will be using for decades, maybe centuries to come as the benchmark of American leadership in the world.

We very well might be at 100,000 before Friday. CNN the NY Times and so on need to apologize to
President Joe Biden for those hit pieces about how poorly the evac was going.

(305 posts)Weve transported 21600 people. Other countries are also transporting there people out. The larger numbers are inclusive with other countries

(21,487 posts)with other countries? He has also been calling on other countries to accept refugees. It is not a one person mission, but he is actively coordinating with other parties involved.
One concern that I have now is that there are always people in situations like this who get stuck trying to get to a place where they can be picked up. Despite very active, aggressive efforts to reach out to around 1000 Americans still in Afghanistan, there are problems with coordinating how to meet up with US rescue teams to be taken to the airport. Inevitably, some will get left behind. I believe that we will still try for as long as it takes to get them out, but any snags in the process will be inflated. There is also the concern that geting them out will involve some violence.
But overall Biden is doing very well.

(37,451 posts)WTF for they were waiting for. I don't think the military are going to be flying helicopters all around to find them, it is dangerous. Really, people that can't prove their Americans? Seven days left, get there or beware. Its sure makes one wonder just what they were doing there that they wouldn't contact the Embassy.

BTW, just about every member of the MSM owes the president an apology. I won't hold my breath, though.

(10,832 posts)I thought getting 10,400 out on Sunday was impressive. But the joint effort obviously has a well-planned evac-process in place and it's running in high gear.
to all involved. They're saving lots of lives.

(11,564 posts)If they're too young to remember it in the moment, they should find and watch footage of the fall of Saigon. I remember people leaping to catch hold of a helo after it had lifted off, and hanging on for dear life (literally) until they got within swimming distance of a carrier.
THAT was chaos.

(3,243 posts)Even if every American and Afghan that helped us were to get out, the pundits will act like everyone was abandoned. It will all be on Biden, and TFGs role of surrendering the country to the Taliban will be totally overlooked by his supporters.

Heck the US media still ignores liberal urbanites to get a REAL American view by interview countless white middle age male rural Americans even though they're the minority and seemly an ever shrinking one.

(989 posts)The cynical ones out there who have accused him of not caring about the people of Afghanistan, I have one question to ask...
How many people will have to be evacuated before you will concede that yes, he does care? 100k? 250k? One million? Every last woman and girl?
I know their answer - it's "not enough".

Thank you President Biden!
