Fact Check: Claim that Taliban is selling US-supplied armored vehicles is satire

The claim: The Taliban is selling abandoned, U.S.-supplied armored vehicles online

As the Taliban swept across Afghanistan in mid-August, it recovered U.S.-supplied military equipment abandoned by fleeing Afghan forces. Now, social media users say the Islamic fundamentalist group is looking to turn a profit.

“Talibans (sic) Put Ads on Social Media To Sell America’s Abandoned Armed Vehicles," reads text in an image posted Aug. 19 on Facebook.

The text is presented as a headline from the Pakistan Tribune. It's overlaid on an image of a man leaning out of an armored vehicle, with a purported advertisement on the right-hand side.
