Report: Amazon, Microsoft, Apple CEOs to meet with Biden on cybersecurity
Amazon.com Inc. CEO Andy Jassy, Microsoft Corp. CEO Satya Nadella and Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook are meeting with President Joe Biden on Wednesday to discuss cybersecurity threats after a year of highly publicized attacks, according to a report from Bloomberg News.
Bloomberg cited someone familiar with the event, saying the summit could focus on improving cybersecurity efforts around the country's infrastructure, including the banking and utility sectors.
The Colonial Pipeline and SolarWinds attacks have been some of the most high-profile cyber breaches and ransomware incidents. Those attacks, and others that have targeted universities and government agencies, have been blamed on cyber groups based in China and Russia. The Biden administration has even accused the Chinese government of sponsoring certain attacks.
Microsoft has been addressing two points of attack through its flurry of acquisitions over the past year. The supply chains of software, firmware and hardware have unsecured links due to third-party involvement.
