FCC proposes $5 million fine for Wohl/Burkman's robocalls targeting black voters

?s=20

Reminder: They also face trial in Michigan with charges that could bring up to 24 years in prison. it is LONG since time for these scumbags to be locked up.

This article is from May. I don't know when the trial starts......

After Burkman and Wohl were arraigned in Michigan last October, the men reportedly filed a motion to have the case dismissed, which a circuit court judge denied in February. The pair appealed to the Michigan Court of Appeals in March and were denied again, meaning their case will be going to trial.

Burkman and Wohl have both been charged with the following offenses:

One count of election law – intimidating voters, a five-year felony;
One count of conspiracy to commit an election law violation, a five-year felony;
One count of using a computer to commit the crime of election law – intimidating voters, a seven-year felony; and

Using a computer to commit the crime of conspiracy, a seven-year felony.

“I applaud the Court of Appeals decision and my office stands ready to proceed with this case,” Nessel said Friday. “We remain committed to defending democracy against misinformation spread in an attempt to undermine our free and fair elections.”

what makes these robocalls different from the zillion other robocalls put there for the past 20+ years? Are all pf the robocalls required to get my consent first? I have never been asked for my consent on any robocalls in this lifetime.

getting involved in an international tug of war over, "This is Jennifer from the warranty dept"....

They use fake US phone numbers as routers.

Also, this law only applies to cell phone...
Landlines are exempt from the robocall law...

Maybe it doesn't happen as much as it used to, but not everybody has an unlimited plan.

Thanks!

for a fine proposed by the FCC becoming the final, enforceable thing? The FCC has proposed a specific fine... Now what? How and when does it become a done deal that they are on the hook for the fine (or whatever amount it ends up being)?

It needs to be $500,000,000

And the men need to spend the rest of their lives in prison.
