Ron Desantis still denies schools & communities the right to protect themselves just because he wants to be President. Faced with evidence that science could save us, he went the opposite direction.

(26,775 posts)Infection numbers look like they might be turning a corner... but deaths have plummeted to the lowest of the entire pandemic.
I understood that the vaccines (particularly among those most at risk) were breaking some of the link between infections and deaths... but this doesn't even fit that assumption.

(44,974 posts)"This week, 227 virus deaths were being reported each day in Florida, on average, as of Tuesday, a record for the state and by far the most in the United States right now. The average for new known cases reached 23,314 a day on the weekend, 30 percent higher than the states previous peak in January, according to a New York Times database. Across the country, new deaths have climbed to more than 1,000 a day, on average."

(26,158 posts)And, will soar within the next two to six weeks when the new hospitalizations die.
They are literally stacking up dead like cordwood is some counties, water treatment plants are having to redirect resources and cut consumer water due to hospitals, and hospice patients are being moved out of hospitals. Universities just started this week. My niece was basically kicked out after giving birth last week because they needed the resources ASAP. Things are worse, not better. Educated estimates are at least 800 people here died from this last week.
