Nurses Refusing Vaccinations Vex Hospital Leaders

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The refusal of these nurses to take the vaccines is really stupid
https://politicalwire.com/2021/08/29/nurses-refusing-vaccinations-vex-hospital-leaders/

For the head of a hospital facing yet another wave of Covid, a vaccine mandate might seem like the only way to keep staff and patients safe. The reality is more complicated, though. Right now nearly 1 in 8 nurses are neither vaccinated nor planning to get a shot.”

“And in some parts of the country, hospital administrators say only about half of their nursing staff are vaccinated.”

“That’s the dilemma. Do you lose more nurses by mandating vaccines and having some quit, or by not requiring shots and facing staff shortages from quarantines and absences when they get sick?”

That's incredibly low.
My nice is a nurse. She's 26.
She got vaxxed in December.
Her brother, about to turn 24, is a PA. Vaxxed since December.
Her parents got vaxxed in March. And, the mom had COVID already. Actually the dad did too, but was asymptomatic. But, he tested positive when she was sick.

the 3 RNs are all FREAKING OUT because Governor Pritzker mandated the vaccine to all health care workers by 9/5 . So they are deciding whether to quit and work in another state or get vaccinated and maybe DIE from the vaccine.

I just want to cry a lot now.

Do they realize that at least half the country have been vaccinated by now?
If half the country dropped dead, I think somebody would have noticed.

There is a serious shortage of healthcare workers (nurses, CNAs, etc). They fire them and can’t find replacements. It really is a difficult dilemma.

my position would be that any nurse (or doctor) that refused to be vaccinated was simply to stupid to work in my hospital. Anyone that stupid is capable of other stupid deadly mistakes.

of infection control, duty to patients (to not infect them), and how to find and analyze accurate information on Covid and the vaccines. Edit to add: people trust nurses, and they are doing a GRAVE disservice to anyone watching them who is on the fence about the vaccines.
