General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI got my booster (3rd shot) from Publix today. It's very easy.
You will need your medicare or insurance ID numbers, if relevant. No insurance, no problem.
1. Go to Publix.com.
2. Click the link at the top of the page for COVID-19 to start the appointment-making process.
3, Choose Moderna or Pfizer, as appropriate.
4. Choose third immunocompromised dose. (No documentation is requested regarding your condition. No questions are asked.)
5. Answer the rest of the questions.
Since there are so many who will not get their shots, it's up to the rest of us to be solid and protect our families.
Be sure to bring your vaccination card listing the info from your two previous shots.
Go people! Good luck.

(15,220 posts)I'm still not comfortable that there is a consensus on WHEN you are supposed to get the booster (other than for immunocompromised individuals). So, I'll wait a while to see how this develops.
Next week, the CDC may say something entirely different. One never knows.

(153,160 posts)their honor stance on masking was pure garbage, and now they seem iffy on when to get a booster

(792 posts)What you're doing is the equivalent of "stealing" bread from a garbage can. No harm done and everyone is safer for it.

(4,007 posts)I'm entitled to this shot based on medical conditions. It's was a full seven months after my 2nd shot, and now, the Biden administration and CDC have recommended we get it after five months.
One does not need to see a doctor to proceed.

(6,251 posts)I made the appointment in the store while shopping. No proof required that I am immunocompromised. I needed my vaccine card and my insurance card (though the insurance was not charged). One long form to fill in with lots of health related questions, but it was pretty much the same the form that CVS used when I got the shingles shots.
They even have a seating area for you to wait the required 15 minutes, to be sure you don't have an immediate reaction.
In the middle of a Friday afternoon, I was the only person getting a shot. But I did run into several friends who were asking questions about getting their own booster shots - non-immunocompromised folk. The Kroger pharmacy employees stated that they expect to be giving third shots to anyone on September 20.

(6,251 posts)Allergies, reaction to previous vaccinations, history of certain diseases (Guillain-Barré, I seem to remember). I'm glad they ask those questions, just as I was glad they made me sit there for 15 minutes after the shot. They were cautious and I really appreciate it!

(4,175 posts)(Illinois)....I had my last shot on 3-16-21. He rold me to get that booster, but NOT wityhin a month of the annual flu shot, simply because it coluld tire me out, sore muscles , etc. I was joking with the physical therapist at the office and she told me the exact same thing. Food for thought!

(5,269 posts)We both are seniors with immunocompromised conditions, spouse severely and myself moderately and those with even moderately compromised immune systems are eligible. Spouse had 2nd dose early Feb and my 2nd was March 1. No questions asked by pharmacist and no waiting so we both actually left at our appointment times since we arrived a few minutes early.
Spouse got flu and covid booster same day on different arms and has had no side effects except sore arm from covid shot. I did just the covid shot on a different day but it wiped me out on the day after the shot with fatigue and headache despite staying hydrated and out of the heat.

(12,047 posts)I'll give it a try next week as my 6 months point is reached, got my first two Moderna at same Publix, really no problem from side affects.
I have multiple other risk factors but not the ones they were using for booster.
