"It was the only thing I felt like I could do," said the restaurants owner, Angie Ugarte.
Ugarte says she posted the message the same day 13 service members were killed in Afghanistan.
"I was just angry. I was just let down. I felt like one of those mothers, or wives, or sisters who were gonna get that knock on the door," she explained.
----------------
So what do the customers think?
"Ive had people come to the door and look at it and turn around and walk away. And Ive had people come into the kitchen while Im cooking and say, Hey, I love your sign," Ugarte said.
People we asked have mixed feelings too.
"I wouldnt go there. I dont appreciate it," resident Louis Vasquez.
"She has the right to not let anybody in the restaurant that supports a certain view," said Serenity Smith.

(47,259 posts)If you want to make money in retail or food service, leave your politics and religion at home. People don't go out to eat to be judged or preached to. There is a reason by "The Customer is Always Right" is a time worn cliché - it works (well, with some exceptions obviously).

(10,156 posts)Where was this sign when a corrupt, inept president lead an attack on our nations capital? Where was this sign with an immoral pos left the Kurds to die? Where was this sign when TFG called the military suckers and losers? How about the 64 other soliders that died under the POS during his presidency? I'd rather eat dog shit than eat here. I wouldn't wanna be sitting around a bunch of antimasker, antivaxxing cousins humpers anyway. I'd have no appetite. Stop using their fucking deaths to get your clout you shameless fuckheads.

(1,202 posts)The sad thing is, every republican I know does not believe in that number. Each and every one of them steadfastly believes to this day, that Covid is not bad and is just like the flu. Among other beliefs, they are literally creating an existence and reality that is based on fantasies.
I tried telling one guy I know yesterday that he should create his alternate reality to one where he is happy and not constantly angry. How I worded it was, "You truly admire and believe Trump will be reinstated. Therefore, be happy with everything that the bad Democrats are doing, because Trump will return and vanquish them. Just be happy!" His response? "I can't be happy."

(10,156 posts)They constantly think everyone is against them (which the sane are) and they have to be constantly angry and hate everything not like them.

(1,202 posts)And the funny thing is, I'm really not against these people I know, I'm just against what they believe in regarding this stuff. We can fully agree on other things and coexist no problem. But they are really obsessed with this stuff to the point where it contaminates their life fully. I simply cannot be around them once they turn to topic to politics.

(82,849 posts)She's a miserable person looking to recruit more people to her misery. Several of the responses in the story have a "bless your heart" vibe that tells me she's not going to achieve whatever her goal was. But when her restaurant fails, she can throw herself another pity party and whine about how antifa closed her down.

And, meanwhile, she's chasing away people who might otherwise be paying customers, if not for her warped theatrics. What a shitty business model. Between this stupidity and the local COVIDiacy, I'm betting she's closed down by year's end.
Oh, and..."I felt like one of those mothers, or wives, or sisters..." More GOP valor-stealing. You felt like one of those mothers? No you didn't. You felt the outrage from the propaganda you have been consuming, that has been warping your worm-infested brain. If none of those 13 are your loved one, you have no fucking idea how they feel.

(40,185 posts)I dont understand virtue signaling. Claiming to feel the depth of grief of the mothers is disrespectful. This woman is too ignorant to know this.

(32,074 posts)someone should tell her that and Afghan family will be moving in next door to her. Watch her scream bloody murder about it. More likely than not, she was probably unaware that US were in there at all.

What about all the Trump Covid deaths. What about all the military killed in Afghanistan in the last 20 yrs.
She also has no understanding of how to run a business. Why drive away paying customers.
Another Magat hell bent on self-destruction.
