Do hospitals or coroners check the political affiliations of COVID patients? Could Tyson really be referring to victims in red states and blue states?

(102,276 posts)Republicans and the registered number of R's in the various red states. That's probably a fairly accurate estimate.

DAYUM! Gotta admit, scrolling through it has actually cheered me up a bit. I'd guess those are all voters who WON'T be voting republi-CON in the next election. Sorry it's struck me that way, but it's struck me that way. Even better when it's some hate-radio figure gone bye-bye. Wonder how much poison and how many lies they spread before they kicked? And how many of their listeners were adversely affected?

(11,738 posts)The Republicans have known, for a long time, that they cannot win based on the popularity of their policies. They have no policies that make the life of the average citizen better.
They have relied on outrage and "culture war" topics to motivate their smaller but easily aroused base. Plus voter suppression tactics. This is why they are so frantically working on those laws by which state legislatures can overturn the results of elections. They cannot corrupt every single voting district so they will win by excluding results they don't like.

(13,991 posts)but Im saying, of the Democrats that die, I would think a lot are young, unvaccinated. Older people are the large majority of deaths but I have a feeling the vast majority are Republicans because almost all older Dems are vaccinated. I have no statistics but thats my observation.

Deaths per day (Avlidna per dag)
Cases per day (Sjukdomsfall per dag)
Deaths by age group (Avlidna per åldersgrupp) totals from the start of the pandemic
since the beginning of the pandemic:
Ages 0-9 years old death totals: 9 deaths (3 deaths ages 5-9yo, 6 deaths from birth to 4 years old, almost all had massive comorbidities)
Ages 10-19 years old death totals: 5 deaths
(so total school-age (5 years to 19 years of age) children's deaths are 8, despite our schools never really closing, other than the majority of high schools for a period in 2020)
Ages 20-29 years old death totals: 22 deaths
Ages 30-39 years old death totals: 47 deaths
Total deaths for youngest 50% of the Swedish population: 83 (around 2,739 US population adjected equivalent deaths for 166,500,000 people)
99% of deaths here were 50 years and older, 96% of deaths were 60 years old and over, 89% 70 years of age and older

(6,594 posts)Amid the delta-fueled coronavirus surge, the American Academy of Pediatrics reported a nearly sevenfold increase in new child covid infections in one month: In the first week of July, there were 12,000 cases nationwide. By the first week of August, the number had grown to 96,000 representing about 15 percent of all new infections.

(6,828 posts)That seems right but there's something that doesn't quite add up.
Is Neal saying that 1600 Democrats die every 10 days? If the vaccine is as effective as we think then why are any statistically significant number of Democrats dying of Covid at all? Is the vaccine unavailable to that many people? Are there that many Democrats who refuse vaccination? (if that's the case, we've got some house cleaning to do) Since when does the CDC or any body else keep records of political affiliation along with the COD data?(never)
Either Neil's talking out of turn or getting his verbiage messed up or we're being spoofed here.
I think this is bogus.

(17,374 posts)Not nearly a majority, but still a significant number. For example, a lot of African Americans are vaccine-hesitant because of what happened at Tuskegee, etc. Again, not a majority, but enough to reach that infection number.

(2,957 posts)Also, the death rate isn't sufficient to change the balance of power in the country. Some on our side of the divide were theorizing (if not hoping) that enough un-vaxxed, mostly R deaths would shrink the conservative base enough to enable real democracy to start working again.
It's morally problematic to tolerate or expect death upon a whole class of people so your side will gain a policy edge. But I'm so afraid for America's future, that I'm tacitly on board.
Republicans may now eat my ass. Thanks.

(1,000 posts)when they were OK with people dying for jogging while black, walking to the store to get Skittles and an Iced tea, selling loose cigarettes, not using a turn signal when changing lanes, being in your bed watching TV after work, or passing a suspected $20 counterfeit, which turned out to not be counterfeit, or in my neighborhood, taking your grammie and your kid siblings some Subway after visiting the dentist, he died inside his grammie's doorway............fast forward to January 6 riot where a "true American patriot" was bashing through the doors of the Capitol screaming to hang Mike Pence and kill Nancy Pelosi, and got shot by a man just doing his job. And he sits there and cries because now his life and that of his family is in danger, and the douche that flamed these fires is still not in jail. So yeah, I have been decivilized.
