Romney camp is still fighting tooth and nail here in NC, but, they put out reports earlier this week they would be closing down most of the campaign here because they claimed to be so far ahead. This is BS.
It's still a very tight race here. Anyone who can donate to GOTV efforts in NC, especially Mecklenburg County needs to do so. Turnout for Obama will also determine if this state ends up with another GOP governor who WILL sign the GOPs voter ID bill.
Do not believe GOP spin re NC.
"DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse appeared on CNN tonight and exposed the Romney campaign for engaging in what he called one of the most transparent head fakes I've ever seen with respect to their so-called announcement today that they are pulling out of North Carolina and shifting resources to Ohio because they believe they have the state won. Said Woodhouse Remember what happened today in North Carolina. Early voting started in North Carolina, which we have a huge advantage in, which propelled the President to victory in 2008. So the day that we're turning Democrats out to the polls, the Republicans say, race is over. No need for anyone to vote. It's over. We're leaving. It's just not true. The race there is close.
Woodhouse noted the advantage President Obamas campaign has on the ground in the Tar Heel State and that the Romney campaigns announcement today was nothing more than an effort to depress the vote of Democrats on the day early voting began in North Carolina. They pretend they're leaving North Carolina, and they're sending one person out of state. They're trying to depress our vote during the early vote period. They're trying to get news stories placed that the race is over. We've registered over 100,000 new voters in North Carolina this year alone, and the Romney campaign is very concerned they can't match us in the early vote. We've seen how the early vote is going in Ohio and Iowa and Wisconsin where we're way ahead in votes that have already been cast. I think they're trying to depress the vote and convince our voters it's over, no reason to vote. The game is over.

(24,689 posts)There is no way anyone is pulling out of NC. It is very much in play.

(28,810 posts)of course, dutifully reported on only what the RNC or Mitt Romney campaign lied. (in this context, "lied" and "said" are synonymous)

(2,730 posts)I've never seen people so desperate in my life. Look at the registration numbers for North Carolina. This is a state Democrats had over 800,000 more registered votes than Republicans. What kind of math are the Republicans doing? Rasmussen has it 52-45 Romney but YouGov says not fast, 49-48 Romney. This is a close race. He must be in Big trouble in the Midwest. That is probably why he is shifting people. Remember Early voting for Iowa and Ohio started last week. So did it for Wisconsin. He is in big trouble in Nevada and Michigan. He loses Ohio, it is over. North Carolina is gravy.

(44,974 posts)Polls show democrats overwhelmingly support Obama. It's only logical to think that if we can GOTV we can win NC!.

(34,108 posts)Obama's fired up ground game is going to be the deciding factor. Besides, why else would the head fake be needed if Romney wasn't worried about NC?
