WACO, Texas (KWKT) A Texas school district announced Monday evening it will be closing all campuses until Sept. 7 after a second teacher passed away of COVID-19 complications.
Natalia Chansler and David Andy McCormick both taught social studies at Connally Independent School Districts junior high school in Waco.
Although they were in the same content area, they were at two different grade levels in two different portions
of the building, said Assistant Superintendent Jill Bottelberghe. All staff identified as close contacts with a known COVID-19 case are asked to get tested every other day, Bottelberghe said.
All of the districts campuses are set to be closed for a week and students will do remote learning. Buildings will be deep cleaned and sanitized.

Your on your own.
And Abbott has NO term limits.
He's dictator for life as long as they continue to remove the rights of any voter block that threaten his reign.
I'm leaving Tx.

(1,525 posts)But my guess in that we will see a lot more of this over the next few weeks.
Delta is so contagious that nearly everyone will get it. Just look at the CDC study of one teacher infecting half the class. I can not see how it will not run through these un-vaccinated school kids.
It is just a matter of how sick they get from it.

(10,495 posts)My son got COVID teaching before vaccines and is looking to get out of teaching because they set him up to get it. My daughter was vaccinated but her school district is run by RW nut jobs. She taught a class of new teachers for the two weeks before school started this year. Two of the teachers reported that they had COVID before attending and were told to attend unless they had a fever. The district did away with free COVID testing they had last year as well as paid time off to recover from COVID. Most of the teachers in the class, including my daughter, caught COVID. They had to change the policy on the first day of school because most of the teachers were sick.

(13,225 posts)I am waiting to see what happens in my school district which is full of rightwingers who voted for NO mask mandate.
Yesterday, PA Governor Wolf announced a statewide mask mandate for schools but the Republican legislature is already trying to reverse his order and the locals will be foaming at the mouth while screaming about their "freedoms."
Fortunately, my children are out of school and there are no teachers in my immediate family. I can't imagine the stress of worrying about family members in the superspreader environment of schools with low vaccination rates and no masks.

It's only human life, after all.
But hey, at least TX overturned Roe v Wade. What an accomplishment.
Fuckers.

(13,225 posts)so masks were "optional" in this school district.
This is the type of tragedies we will see more of thanks to sociopaths in government who put appealing to their crazy base ahead of the health and safety of their citizens.
