How to help Texas women

While no one wants an abortion, for many, it is the best option given their particular life and medical circumstances.

The horrendous law just passed in Texas puts a bounty on women seeking abortion. You can help by donating to a variety of support services here:

4. Pretending people don't want abortions plays into a restriction mentality.

"If only pregnant people had XYZ, then they wouldn't choose abortion." Nope. People will want abortions because they don't want to be pregnant anymore, no matter what resources are offered to them.

6. Depends on what you mean by "want"

I'm lesbian and have decided to be a childless loser, so it, hopefully, will never affect me, but I doubt women in general ever really want the procedure.

They may want to not be pregnant at that time, but most would have preferred to not get pregnant in the first place or, if it was possible, to have a pregnancy magically disappear without a medical procedure.

"want" is one of those words, you know.

9. When people are pregnant and don't want to be, some of them then want abortions.

Not sure why this is so hard. When someone's appendix becomes inflamed and it's going to burst, they want an appendectomy. When someone dislocates a kneecap, sometimes they want an MPFL repair. No one wants a dislocated kneecap, but when it happens, some people then want an MPFL repair and barriers to getting it are disruptive and unnecessary. Same with abortion.

But I guess when I say I want something, I consider what I REALLY REALLY Want.

I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want -

Is not to get pregnant or sick to begin with. ha

But, yeah, if I have limited choices, then I would want an appendectomy over death.

NO ONE WANTS AN ABORTION!

I certainly wanted one, at 17 pre Roe v Wade. It was horrible but still I would not have changed my mind under any circumstances. Had birth control been easy and available and secure that nobody would get it in mind to tell your parents it never would have happened. They keep us in unending binds. If your circumstances are perfect you don't get an abortion unless you HAVE to for medical reasons because if the circumstances are perfect you want the child.

It is very true that a lot of women want one. That does not make them horrible or slutty it makes them fucking HUMAN making a mistake that 2 made but only 1 is held responsible for THE REST OF THEIR LIFE!

Stop trying to make us look "good" and cuddly to the enemy of our freedom. EDIT to add I am not speaking to the poster personally
