Mo Brooks is not happy about his phone data from Jan 6 being turned over to the Select Committee. He said there may be some caustic remarks on there between himself and other congressmen, but they are private, and there is no probable cause for the committee to ask for them.

(15,084 posts)cover actual communications? Or just data?
Will they see the texts or hear the phone calls? I didn't think so. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

(123 posts)Mo is doing what lawyers advise their clients not to do, talk. The committee now knows he remembers the conversations.

(1,109 posts)As far as I understand (which isn't very 'far') the data (possibly) being collected does NOT include actual conversational materials; it simply comprises details that a call was made from a specific telephone number to someone (else) at a different telephone number as well as the length of time for said call. Also, I seriously doubt that the telephone companies have the means to record distinct conversations UNLESS directed to do so by way of some form of legal instrument (as in an authorized wiretap scenario).

working when the events took place. Because his actions were within the line and scope of his employment duties, they are subject to the scrutiny of his employer.
At least for now, we the people are collectively still the US government. We get to have the records.
He has a law degree if Im not mistaken. He probably should know this.
