The news media hasn't really taken notice of this, but . . .

. . . In the midst of what has been, so far, the most difficult period for the Biden administration, President Biden has managed not only to (a) carry out the largest evacuation effort in history from a hostile foreign country, (b) fend off a relentless stream of overblown, negative criticism by the media of that effort, and (c) quietly and competently move FEMA resources and personnel into place in advance of a major hurricane! I heard one Louisiana parish official say yesterday that he "couldn't be happier with the response by the federal government."

Quite a contrast, I'd say, to the fiasco that was Trump's response to Maria, or Bush's abysmal response to Katrina 16 years ago! This is what real leadership -- and competent governance -- looks like!

I don't think he's a Dem either, not sure why I think that, but he was thankful for the quick response.

ETA: It was the Parish leader of the Parish that contains Grande Isle which took a direct hit.

I wonder how much longer they will crucify Biden on Afghanistan. Today’s WaPo lead stories were almost wall-to-wall Afghanistan.

voting rights, women's repro rights, 1/6 insurrection, wildfires and floods, droughts, hurricanes, etc.

All critically important issues. All pushed below the fold while Afghanistan takes the screaming 50-pt bold font headlines at the top.

And all while foreign policy ranks low in the priorities of the American public.

Seriously, WaPo?

...the devastation in a plane with a faux concerned look on his face....
No videos of Joe playing a guitar at a fundraiser, looking like an even bigger idiot, while the hurricane is devastating a major city.
No reading "My Pet Goat" while it's happening.
No laughing and throwing paper towels to the victims.

Leadership--what a difference! SO. DAMN. GLAD! we elected this man! and his wife!

And now the Taliban is giving up ISISk locations in Afghanistan to the Americans.

and instead simply focusing on getting shit done and giving other people credit, and taking the blame even when it's the fault of one's staff or underlings.

Something Trump would never understand, nor his followers, who think "leadership" is constantly hyping oneself and taking credit for all successes and taking no blame ever for any failure, even when it's your own. Because they think "being a leader" is congruent to "being a total narcissistic dick to everyone, even your friends."

The transition might have gone a lot better. Still, in spite of the short notice and Trump's undermining of the Afghan government and military with his Taliban "deal" Biden still pulled it off. That's leadership.
