So, an Uber driver, who has no clue about his/her client, may be liable for $10,000

if the client is going to an place where abortions are conducted. This is completely INSANE. And that's just part of the evil and insanity about this TexASS bill!

as a driver or owner or manager of stock holder I'd be looking at going to court to file an injunction, then a suit throwing this out. Not being an attorney I'm not sure of how to argue this exactly, my hunch would be something to do with 14th Amendment rights to due process and equal protection.

Just a thought.

Of course Uber would spend hundreds of millions of dollars to avoid such regulation

I am not a lawyer.

Neil Gorsucks, here we are. Someone said the case was with Alito but we have no way of really knowing. Biden must expand the court. It is logical, reasonable and it's time.

The bill says "knowingly aids and abets". Not sure how that would apply to an Uber driver.

Not defending the bill, there is plenty enough wrong with the core of it that stretching out the edges isn't really necessary.

uber cannot pick up child-bearing-age women during business hours. Or, if the woman camps out at a clinic, they may have to stop all such pickups.

Uber drivers could, potentially, be reported. Who will be doing the investigations in all these cases?

do police have the time, or will Homeland security. Is there enough staff?

Better not have any women on that trip to Santa Fe or get ready for lawsuits.

as someone who is against the Texas abortion law. Highly unlikely an Uber driver is going to face this liability. This is just some angry hypothetical situation that has little to zero chance of happening.
