The problem there being, not so much those ladies - as their husbands.

In a small town, the local gentry could cause you problems if you steeped on their toes one too many times.

The GQP can gerrymander districts for a while to control the radical legislature, but they have less control over statewide offices.

What a difference a Democratic Governor, Lt. Governor, and AG would make!

My REAL hero was my grandmother who introduced me to the writings and ideologies of Richards and Ivins. She (my grandmother) lived in Austin my whole life, and was a dedicated feminist and liberal. Although she probably would never have used either of those words--she just did what she thought was right, damn the labels.
