We don't do what Israel does. That being said a minority government would be less stable, especially if it is a conservative one. If they put forth a budget and it fails then another election happens. If they decide to call an election themselves then there is one.

The most likely outcome is a minority Liberal government with NDP as a junior partner, but Conservatives generally win elections if they get in the 36-38 percent range.

If Liberals lose seats and the NDP gains them, Jagmeet Singh (leader of the NDP) will probably be Deputy PM.

parties stay separate in a minority government situation. There was a Union Government during WWI between the liberals and the conservatives. But i don't think it has happened since then where the parties have melted into each other. They have split apart. We are not like Israel or Italy in that regard. The governor general gives the government to the one party with the most votes. My hope is that the bloc quebecois does not do well and Trudeau gets a majority, though that does not look likely. A girl can dream.

If the Liberals lose seats and the NDP gains seats, they are going to have to forge some sort of formal power sharing agreement with the NDP.

Will the parties stay the Liberals and NDP? Of course.

Will they do some sort of agreement? Of course.

If liberals take 32 pct of the vote and the NDP 20 pct. That is a huge mandate for center left government of 52 pct.

Their government will fall faster than Joe Clark’s in 1979-80. You will be back at the polls in 3 months.

Question: What happens if the Liberals and CONS get the same number of seats?

Does the Governor General flip a coin?

after consultation with experts I think. Liberals may try to get some bloc or NDP member to join their team. Stuff like that. I am assuming of course. It has not happened.
