Our downtown office has power! Not sure about internet. Im going in tomorrow to check. Still no electricity in my neighborhood.
And I learned I will be the only person in the office for a few days, so I dont have to worry about any mask holes. The lone unvaccinated guy just left for Lafayette for the foreseeable future and wont return until he has power. He lives in Kenner, which is out west by MSY airport. Entergy New Orleans is a separate entity from Entergy Louisiana, which powers Metairie and Kenner and other parts of the state, so who knows when they will get power.
The new Entergy plant in New Orleans East is supposed to be concentrating on restoring power to the city first. The city paid for the new plant. Its unclear if, once all of New Orleans is reconnected, Entergy will help other communities. Depends on who you ask.

(14,624 posts)according to an email from building management.
My colleague and I were just joking about people sleeping in the building. I have no doubt there will be another email in a few days letting us know thats verboten. Weve had drunk people sleep it off in their suites in the past . . . New Orleans!

(16,844 posts)I've been wondering where you've been charging your cell phone and everything. Are they delivering food and water to y'all in the neighborhood?
zuul
(14,624 posts)but there are several sites where citizens can line up in their cars for supplies. Ive heard the lines are really long.
Food and water deliveries are apparently being made to areas further south that were hard hit by flooding.
Yall probably know more than I do. Ive been checking DU and Twitter for updates.

(16,844 posts)I would get in my car and go down to the outlet mall and wait in a line that wound around the parking lot. When I got to the head of the line, I would tell the guardsman how many people I was picking up for, and they would load up the trunk with water and boxes of MREs. I don't think you have a car, though, so I don't know if that would work for you. If you can't get food or water, though, let me know and I'll see if I can bring you some.
