Sotomayor, dissenting: "In effect, the Texas Legislature has deputized the State's citizens as bounty hunters, offering them cash prizes for civilly prosecuting their neighbors' medical procedures."

Again: Roberts, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan all wrote separate dissents highlighting different aspects of their disagreement with the majority (which partially explains the delay).

Didn't matter. Barrett's fifth vote made all the difference. https://supremecourt.gov/opinions/20pdf

Is it sexist to point that out?

And Breyer should have retired months ago.

Old white men don't give a shit about women's reproduction. It' not exactly high on their list of priorities. Maybe closer to the very bottom.

Doubt old white guy Trump ever gave women's reproductive rights a thought ..

Should have maybe elected the woman who actually DOES know & give a damn about women's reproductive rights.

It's brain dead at the very least, just waiting for the five not named Roberts to pull the plug.

Which I anticipate happening with the Mississippi case. This is prologue to overturning Roe and returning it to the states.

And quite frankly that's the best result for our side. They are already killing Roe piecemeal, it's over. States are going to copy paste this law.

Explicitly killing Roe will supercharge the 22 elections on our side which can lead to greater control of the Senate and keeping the House and moving towards better judges or other progressive movement in this and other areas.

I don't want Roe to go, but that ship's sailed and best result is for them to kill it fully to wake up people to get out and vote.

BREAKING: SUPREME COURT ALLOWS TEXAS ABORTION BAN TO REMAIN IN EFFECT.
The court rejects emergency request to block the law, which bans abortions after six weeks of pregnancy in defiance of Roe v. Wade. The law took effect 24 hours ago. Opinions here:
