I'll go first. I called both. I didn't reach a person either time, so I left a detailed voicemail explaining that not only was this important for the safety of our democracy, it was also critical that it pass to ensure that abortion would remain legal.
I'm in Arizona, so I also urged Sinema to vote to end the filibuster.
Anyone else call today?

(1,164 posts)Together we can make a difference. There's power in numbers. Think of how quickly gay rights became accepted. It wasn't because people suddenly saw the light; it was because gay activists made a loud noise. That's what we have to do now.
That bill will never pass if we give up without even trying.

What do we do? We do better at getting more Dems into office at all levels.

The act isn't passing...you planning on telling people to stay home?

(6,828 posts)Win two additional seats in 2022, so that we can tell Sinema and Manchin to fuck off. Then we might get things done.

(1,164 posts)There's no harm in trying for both; that way, if one fails, we've still got the backup.
Also, Sinema has turned out to be very, very different from the way she presented herself before the election. We need to pass the For the People Act just in case we get another like her in one of those two additional seats (which we'll hopefully get).

(29,673 posts)Unless I feel like telling someone off. My opinion counts for nothing. I've had one office hang up on me several times. The other almost never answers and lets it all go to a full voice-mail box.
And before you or anyone here tells me to try harder my senator is Josh Hawley. His office hangs up on callers unless you kiss his ass. I'm blocked from his Facebook page and his Twitter account after making comments about his editorial where he sided with domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh.
Blunt is off napping somewhere.

(1,164 posts)To be honest, one person calling every day isn't going to make any difference to them. But if enough people call daily, they might worry that maybe, just maybe, they might not be able to keep their cushy jobs.
You don't know who else is calling. Maybe yours will be the "100th monkey" call to make them worry about their reelection chances.
It's worth a shot. If you don't do it, it definitely won't work.

Neither gives a damn.
Go meet Josh Hawley. You'll see.
