For denying Obama his right to appoint a supreme court justice.
I have actual hate in my heart for forced birthers and their ignorant supporters.
No amount of breathing or meditation is going to quell this anger inside my soul.
I wish I could go for a run, like I was once able to do.

(11,323 posts)I was suicidal for months after. I cannot even begin to imagine the horror of having to birth that monster's seed.
Im so mad I can't even cry. As a younger woman, I took for granted what our mothers and grandmother's had to fight for.

(56,890 posts)Per the Constitution, a president can nominate a justice for the Supreme Court. What happens after that is up to the Senate.
You can look it up.
HTH.

Best wishes.

(1,666 posts)I guess they could have dragged it out with a sham nomination hearing that would have ended with more votes against (predetermined).
As you pointed out, all the President gets to do is nominate. Mitch probably should have saved himself the headache and allowed a shame vote to go forward. That would have at least forced people to acknowledge the Senate does not have to go along with the nomination.
As it stands now, when this subject comes up, it is usually from a view that Garlands seat should have been a foregone conclusion; as if Mitch didnt have the votes to make sure he would not have been yessed in.

(3,706 posts)Democrat in the White House and a Supreme Court vacancy ten months before the election. Let the people decide.
Republican in the White House and a Supreme Court vacancy only two months before the election. Senate Republicans quickly decide.
A more blatant example of hypocrisy and underhanded dealing I can't imagine. But that's republicans.

(45,256 posts)otherwise there's no point in delaying the justice appointment because Hillary would appoint someone even more liberal than Merrick Garland.
Amy Coney Barrett was a judge for like 2 years before Trump appointed her to replace the brilliant and excellent Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
They just want young extreme conservatives who will live a long time.
