Lindsey Graham:
The retaking of Bagram would put our military at risk, but I think those involved in the operation would gladly accept that risk because it would restore our honor as a nation and save lives.

(16,730 posts)As does TFG. Which is why Lindsey Graham has been such a kiss ass for him.
The late Sen. John McCain must be rolling in his grave.

(115,615 posts)John Kerry said this about Vietnam some 40 years ago. Graham would have Americans die to restore our "honor," which we didn't have in the first place - because staying in Afghanistan after Bin Laden was killed was a big fat mistake, at least as big a mistake as staying in Vietnam after about 1967.

(32,075 posts)ended a twenty-year, bullshit war. No one, including these military personnel you claim to speak for, wants to give their lives for your weird air base fetish. If you want it back that badly, suit up, go over there, and get it your own fucking self, you feckless, disgusting piece of shit.

(1,654 posts)Who wants to go back in and commit to another unknown number of years of this? Endless repeat deployments. How about you, Lindsey? Want to volunteer to go back as a military lawyer and spend a year over there? Do you think that will restore our honor?
Today's military is not like in Vietnam. Terrible war there, too, but if you made it home after your tour in Vietnam you didn't go back unless you volunteered to do it. Now your whole unit goes, comes home. Sometimes not even time enough to heal when you're redeployed. And maybe repeat again and again. For what? Not honor, for propping up corruption.
