A few facts:
Beaumont Texas to El Paso Tx is 830 miles, a 12 hour drive. It is only 802 miles from El Paso to Los Angeles, Ca. This describes the difficulty of getting around one state, if it is easier to reach the Pacific coast than the eastern side of your state.
Brownsville Tx to Oklahoma City is 738 miles or 10:45 hours. Brownsville Tx to New Orleans LA is 702 miles, or 10:30 hours.
Depending on where you live in Texas, travel by car, or even flying, can eat up a day.

(10,749 posts)I lived in the Texas Hill Country and my daughter and I decided to take a trip to New Mexico. So. . . we're ten hours into the drive when we turned north into New Mexico. The road sign noted that it was another 239 miles to El Paso. We'd lived on and off in Texas for about ten years, so we knew the distances, but that was an eye-opener.
There was a post from a DU trucker addressing the issue of providing transportation. Yes, that would be a crime, now, in Texas, but so was the Underground Railroad, or, for that matter, the Resistance in WWII France. Until this travesty is reversed, this may be necessary.
BTW, this kind of neighbor spying on neighbor is reminiscent of Cuba in the 1960s and beyond.

(61,675 posts)having a rapist's baby. For real. Even after I remind them that it is likely she will have to deal with him over visitation, and someday have to explain that their daddy is a rapist, and they were conceived in a felony.

(24,104 posts)but the reaction of the entire nation when it hits the news. Or did they build into the law secrecy for all the accusers and the trials? It wouldn't surprise me if they did. It would be unconstitutional, but that's okay with the current Supreme Court apparently.

And as necessary various charitable organizations do the paying. Just realized I should go find one to donate to until this is fixed.
