Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhat comes to mind when you think of being targeted for survillance for someone seeking a bounty
payable by accusing someone assisting you with constitutionally protected behavior?
How about when you think about the new GA voting law that allows ANYONE to make UNLIMITED challenges to your voter registration, putting your ability to cast and have your ballot counted at total question--particularly if you fail to address each and every challenge?
How about when you hear of buses of Trump-style activists--living in other states-- going to school board or county commission meetings across the country to threaten and demand that mask or vaccine ordinances be banned in your community? How do you feel when you find that some of these elected officials have been sufficiently intimidated to quit--leaving those positions wide open to extremists to take their place?
How do you feel when you find that the staff of your local ERs have been spit on, threatened, had their tires slashed (and without adequate security personnel or response) by those who deny COVID-19, despite their illness and who blame them...? How do you feel knowing they are working understaffed, exhausted, and facing PTSD, to begin with?
How do you feel when you find that fascist behavior such as this is infiltrating so many areas, so many issues, so much of the issues we need to address, that the media can't report it all and our systems of checks and balances can't even begin to respond?
Honestly, the past two days I have had vivid dreams and despite my sworn pacifism, in these dreams I'm anything but...
I have to go find some puppies to play with... Sigh

(43,128 posts)This is a law to root out "sinners" as perceived by the religious zealots that wrote the laws, in my view. It is to use government to enforce religious beliefs of those in power.

To many people set to many local and state elections.
This didn't just happen.

(44,998 posts)is their realization that they're unable to win a fair election
or enact fair legislation. These are their ugly final throes because there's
no way they can ever truly and lastingly win. And resisting only speeds
their demise, just as it has with every bunch of despots like these.
Republicans are telling and showing the world what inadequate losers they are.
Let's show them the exit with a firm swift kick in the ass. Enough.

(5,442 posts)It all makes me think of this anticommunist book written by J Edgar Hoover. We had to read it in my 9th grade civics class (1964). In it, he lays out the playbook for infiltrating and taking over local governance at every level, including school boards, in order to subvert society. The repubs are doing it quite well in my opinion.

And if I see you drop something, I'm not saying anything.
And this goes for men as well.
