If a woman who is happily pregnant suffers miscarriage and perhaps needs to get to a clinic or a hospital, will she and the healthcare worker have to prove that this is not an abortion?
What about a fertilized egg developing inside a fallopian tube?
Many - I dont remember the percentage - of pregnancies end up in miscarriages before the woman even realizes that she was pregnant.
I once listened to Barbara Ehrenreich presentation and she suggested to collect all these used tampons that may contain fetuses and send them to the ones who want to keep babies alive.

If they could throw a woman who has miscarried into prison, they totally would.

(11,616 posts)That was 35 years ago. We do have a brilliant daughter (she just completed her masters in engineering). One miscarriage was after she was born. We said, enough and I had a vasectomy.
The urologist had a great sense of humor. Hes got me all prepped on the table and says, totally deadpan, Ive always wanted to do one of these. After Im dressed and cleared to leave, he says, come back next week and Ill do the other side Im sure he used both jokes hundreds of times.

It wrenched her for a while & we decided then that kids were not our future.
We don't have any regrets. We resigned ourselves to it 35 years ago.

(23,812 posts)...10-20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage/spontaneous abortion. Mother Nature does a lot of house cleaning.

Miscarriage is the spontaneous loss of a pregnancy before the 20th week. About 10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. But the actual number is likely higher because many miscarriages occur so early in pregnancy that a woman doesn't realize she's pregnant.
Miscarriage is a somewhat loaded term possibly suggesting that something was amiss in the carrying of the pregnancy. This is rarely true. Most miscarriages occur because the fetus isn't developing normally.

(6,640 posts)he mistook spontaneous abortion for abortion. (Spontaneous abortion is what doctors call miscarriage.) I have a physical condition that caused them. the first doctor who told me I was pregnant, also said, "You are going to miscarry." I didn't believe him but he was right.

(8,579 posts)So, I did not realize I went to a Catholic hospital. They admit me and tell me although the fetus died, they cannot do a d&c and I have to wait for the baby to come out naturally because the are a Catholic hospital. Luckily, I did not leave the hospital because I hemorraged so bad - blood coming out of me like a faucet on high. Suddenly 15 nurses were in my room and I was given shots as I was being taken to surgery. If I left the hospital I would have died and Im sure something similar happened to lots of women who were not as lucky. Many women hemorrhage after childbirth or miscarriage.

Maybe she will be accused of not eating the right foods? Not getting enough exercise? Too much exercise? Or anything somebody else deems to have put the fetus at risk.
