Regardless of their politics, SC justices must have HUGE egos.

(22,063 posts)She was trying to outlast trump so he would not be installing her replacement. She fought hard, through many health crisis's, but couldn't quite make it.
I admire her courage, and her wisdom.

(34,857 posts)But she refused to. Back then, the Democrats held the senate. Had she stepped down, Obama would've been able to replace her and this wouldn't be happening. Even in 2013, she had already battled colon and pancreatic cancer. That was on top of her age.
It was judicial malpractice to remain in office.
But I agree, after November, 2014, she had no choice but to hang on - it's just a shame she didn't have the foresight to step down when Obama won reelection in 2012.
