I want to thank my fellow Mainers, especially the chowder heads in the second district for re-electing this out of touch right wing hack to the Senate last year! We had a chance to get someone who actually represents our state's interests, but the tRumpsters in this state put this poor excuse of a Senator back in Washington.
After calling her office in Portland yesterday and unloading on a member of her staff (strongly suggesting that Losin' Susan watch The Handmaid's Tale), I sent the following email to our not so illustrious Senator:
Dear Senator Collins,
I am writing to express my frustration and anger with your vote to confirm Bret Kavanaugh. Once again, you blew it and you displayed poor judgment. Just like you did when you voted for the Iraq War.
You assured us during your grandstanding speech on this nomination that your support for Bret was based on your judgment that he would honor precedent! Is that what Mr. Kavanaugh did yesterday when he voted to allow Texas to release vigilantes to go after women when it comes to their decisions regarding their own healthcare?!?
Perhaps you should consider retiring at this point? You obviously lack the judgment needed to make sound decisions. It's too bad the women of Texas will have to suffer due to your ineptitude.

(5,870 posts)Unfortunately you'll probably only get a form letter response. "Thank you for your recent letter to Sen. Collins. She appreciates your concern and her staff will look into the matters you raised."

(20,814 posts)any kind of "concern" yet over this? Because it seems to me that we're hearing radio silence from her. Maybe she's too busy writing a strongly worded email to 'ol Brett to keep in her draft folder.

Why people hold out hope that she will do anything for Maine is insane. I put her and Manchin on the same level....they're USELESS!

She defended Kavanaugh and then wants us to believe shes shocked when he does exactly what everyone knew he would.
Time for a replacement.

(45,380 posts)that election smells fishy. Unless rural Mainers lied to pollsters or something like that, Sara Gideon should be the Senator.

(15,062 posts)Are very old and easily hackable. I thought it looked fishy too. Same with Mitch's reelection. He has something like a 19% approval rating in his state.

Watch people's actions, not their words.
Have words to thank for their positions
Words that scream for your submission
And no-one's jamming their transmission
'Cos when their eloquence escapes you
Their logic ties you up and rapes you

The Senate is full of Narcissists and Sociopaths (I'm going to include St. Manchin in that group) - it's almost a requirement for the job.

No, the only reason she said what she said was to cover her own ass before the 2020 election and she is counting on the voters to forget that she said what she said and voted how she voted before the next election if she decides to run for office again.

(26,403 posts)Rather, she **knew** what he would do - but chose to lie about it to "just get by". She chose to lie to the voters of Maine, to the United States for some short term benefit it would gain her.
Do not attack her for her judgement about evaluating Bret Kavanaugh, attack her for her judgement in choosing to lie to the people of Maine and to the United States.
