Texans: Please Think of Your Daughters and other Women You Love

This new law has no exceptions, even in cases of rape or incest. So, you have a daughter. What if she is raped and becomes pregnant? Do you really want her to be forced to go through a pregnancy and birth? Really? Who was the rapist? Do you approve of that rapist's character? Do you want his genes in your family? How will you feel about a grandchild who has a rapist as a biological father?

Any woman could be raped. Your daughter is not immune, nor is your wife, sister, or any other woman you know and care about. The same issues apply.

This is a terrible, terrible law, for many reasons. But, think about the women and girls in your own life. Do they matter to you?

Just think!

But I believe you're speaking to the deaf, dumb, and blind!

With the exception of those who are liberal, do you actually believe that conservatives care about women at all?

The politicians who put this law into place are only concerned with holding onto power and raking in money...and making the religious fanatics, that make up their base, happy!

Building awareness is important. Making people think can shift their point of view on issues, and nothing is closer to most people than their families.

Making issues personal is an important factor in influencing voters. Efforts in that direction are never wasted, even though they don't alter some people's opinions.

Out of the 4 women that have lived in this house, I know of 3 of them have been raped. I violently and left for dead, and 1 repeatedly, while underage, in an attempt to "groom" her.

It is that prevalent.

And that horrifies me.

It also makes me feel I failed as a father.

The parents of the rapists failed to raise decent human beings. They raised monsters.
