Entergy New Orleans and Entergy Louisiana have published estimated power restoration dates for south Louisiana. This is fantastic news since earlier guestimates were weeks out! I received the data via text and I can't upload it on DU, but here are the dates:
Parishes of Point Coupee, West Baton Rouge, and Iberville: 9-2-21
Parishes of East and West Feliciana: 9-3-21
New Orleans Central Business District: 9-4-21 (some parts already have power)
City of Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish: 9-6-21
Gonzales, Denham Springs, and parts of Ascension Parish: 9-7-21
Chalmette, St Bernard Parish, upper parts of Plaquemines Parish: 9-7-21
Algiers, Metairie, Kenner, Westbank of Jefferson Parish: 9-8-21
New Orleans East and the rest of Orleans Parish: 9-8-21 (parts of the French Quarter, Treme, and Mid-City already have power)
Personal News: I still don't have power at my house and probably won't get it until 9-8-21, but power and internet are working in my office in a high-rise building in the Central Business District. So I have been able to come to the office to charge my devices and get some work done. And cool off for awhile. It's been really difficult to sleep because of the heat and humidity. And I'm in menopause and have been struggling to find medication that will work for me (most cause migraines or nausea.) It will be a miracle if I make it to 9-8-21 without killing anyone!
Kitteh News: My 4 indoor and 6 outdoor cats are all fine, but some of them are a little miffed at the lack of good food service. They usually get both canned and dry food, but since we are still on a 'boil water' advisory, I've been feeding all of them kibble only because I can't wash dishes. A couple of them will give me the stink eye when they see just kibble in their bowls. They may fire me before this is over.

(30,613 posts)The garbage that most doctors call "hormones" are actually fake hormones (or derived from animals who have very different hormones). When docs say "progesterone" they usually are referring to "progestins" which are very toxic fake hormones. When they say "estrogen" they usually are referring to Premarin (PREgnant MAR urIN). In real life there are several estrogens: estrone, estradiol, estriol (notice "one," "di," "tri" in the names, counting 1, 2, 3).
Bioidentical replacements, if administered by somebody who understands this stuff, are dramatically safer, and can actually be protective against cancers (exact opposite of how the toxic fake ones operate). The safest (but weakest) estrogen is estriol; it actually blocks cancer receptors, opposite of what estrone does. Bioidentical progesterone is identical to your natural molecule; they derive it from a wild yam.
In general, most of the side effects associated with "hormones" are really resulting from the chemical tricks that Pharma does with their fake hormones to make them super-potent. Real hormones (if administered correctly) don't make you sick.

(14,624 posts)I was lying on the floor, so sick I could barely lift my head up to puke in the toilet.
Prior to trying any prescription medication, I tried soy supplements and then black cohosh. Both are migraine triggers for me. I have some creams made from yams, and I'm using them now, but they just aren't as effective at treating menopause symptoms.
Only 2 hormones have worked and not caused migraine or nausea/vomiting. One is no longer available (Duavee) due to faulty packaging. The packaging error occurred in July of 2020. Still can't get it in the US or Canada. And no one seems to know why . . . not my doctor, not my pharmacist . . . no one can get any information from Pfizer, the manufacturer.
The second one (Angeliq) is available but very expensive and my insurance company will not longer pay for it. It would cost me about $800 a month without insurance.
I seem to be able to handle estradiol (delivered in a patch) but the oral progesterone is like poison for me. Ten years of this bullshit. My oldest sister is almost 70 and is still dealing with menopause, after almost 20 years.

(30,613 posts)Pretty much placebos. A doctor can prescribe ones that are many times more potent. What your doctor called "oral progesterone" was almost certainly NOT progesterone. That's a Pharma lie.

(14,624 posts)I don't know anything about this and she has never mentioned it, while you are obviously very well informed.
Thanks you for all this information!

(30,613 posts)If you can find a doc that does "bioidentical" hormone treatments, that's the magic word. Most gyns and endocrinologists have not the slightest clue. I'm sorry to have to tell you that.

(21,714 posts)Pregnant Mares Urine. I was on it for years, it worked for me. Sorry you had such problems with it. I went into menopause surgically, so there was nothing gradual about it for me. I was ready to kill somebody and was crying my eyes out. Premarin was like a wonder drug.

(14,624 posts)My boss told me and my coworkers to sign up with FEMA in case we need housing assistance. My daughter signed me up a few days ago, just in case I need to stay in a hotel until power is restored (as if I could find a hotel anywhere near here that has power!)
This morning I was notified that $500 was deposited into my checking acount, courtesy of FEMA. I was not expecting this. I don't need the money, but many folks will. This will be a godsend to them. Thank you, Joe Biden.
That's awesome! So happy to hear FEMA is getting help to people quickly!!!

(14,624 posts)Our building mangement will not allow it. We have to be out by 8:00 pm. They make us sign in when we arrive and sign out when we leave. And we have to list our suite number. I bet they are checking the suites to make sure everyone left each night!

(14,624 posts)I actually prefer the daytime, when it's hotter but less humid. The humidity is just stifling.
After taking a cold shower every morning, I have about one minute to dry off, put deodorant on, and pull my clothes on before I'm dripping with sweat. Sweat running down my face, neck, arms, and lower back.
The humidity in the morning is usually around 90% or higher. It's brutal.

The kittehs want what they are used to. What's the matter human, don't you remember what we eat?

oh yeah, about those kittehs... going through something myself, and the empathy wave is slipping away!
It's almost like the kittehs think we're their slaves or something. Oh, wait . . . we are!

(5,321 posts)I'm in Baton Rouge, and lucky enough to have power. Went around this morning looking for gasoline to take down to my sister in Marrero.... FORGET THAT in the daytime. I'm going to try again some time after midnight.

But they are just so adorable when they do it I can't help but giggle.
Wow! That's fast! (electricity)
I can't sleep in the heat. Pure misery. I think I pass out more than I actually fall to sleep, so to speak.
