Remember when Susan Collins said she was convinced that Brett Kavanaugh believed a womans right to choose was settled law? She was wrong. Women in Texas must pay the price for her gullibility.

(4,835 posts)shifts the focus from her being a liar. I believe she was lying when she said what she said. She knew Kavanaugh was part of the plan to kill Roe vs Wade. She betrayed women.

(16,072 posts)But she isn't the only woman who has...all of the women in the Texas legislature who voted in favor of this law, also betrayed women!!!
And their places in the 9th Circle, if one believes in such things, is reserved...
The Ninth Circle of Hell is divided into 4 Rounds according to the seriousness of the sin. Though all residents are frozen in an icy lake. Those who committed more severe sin are deeper within the ice. Each of the 4 Rounds is named after an individual who personifies the sin. Thus Round 1 is named Caina after Cain who killed his brother Abel, Round 2 is named Antenora after Anthenor of Troy who was Priams counselor during the Trojan War, Round 3 is named Ptolomaea after Ptolemy (son of Abubus), while Round 4 is named Judecca after Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Jesus with a kiss.

They will feel betrayed twice.
It should be every women's CHOICE. That's the point.

(12,165 posts)Just because theyre women does not excuse their support of state control of wombs and citizen policing of women. It does make them more insidious, though.
There are a lot of women who are fine with the patriarchy and stripping themselves of a hard-won civil right. They remind me of gay people who vote against gay rights. They can all go to hell for all I care.

What about those women that believe abortion is wrong? Were they 'betrayed' as well?

(4,835 posts)and the right! to make decisions about their bodies. And certainly, those women who do not believe in the right to make medical choices about their bodies can feel free not to have an abortion.

(2,636 posts)Those women who believe terminating a pregnancy is wrong are free to choose to carry to term any pregnancy that falls within their own uteruii.
Just like other women, who are capable of deciding for themselves whether and when to become mothers, can make their own medical decisions.
What Roe v. Wade prevented was dead women.
WIre hangers are back, in a big way.

You are, however, forcing other women to carry the fetuses of rapists, men committing incest, etc.

Both the Nazis & Soviets made abortion easy, but they made contraceptives hard to obtain, which meant that at any time the regime wanted more citizens all they had to do was bar access to abortion.
The Ceausescu regime in Romania outlawed both contraception and abortion, and regularly checked on women to see why they were not pregnant. The horrors of the orphanages ensued, populated with psychologically traumatized children whose parents couldnt afford them and didnt want them, so dumped them as soon as they were born.
The Chinese government decided the solution to overpopulation was the one child policy, backed up with draconian forced abortions. China now has millions of men who will never get a chance to marry, as families favored sons and selected for them by ultrasound if they could.
Women are moral agents, with functioning brains. Keep the Goddamned state out of it, and likewise religion, and we ourselves will choose appropriately.
* Just so you know, many religions indeed many branches of Christianity itself, are fine with abortion being legal. So dont tell me religious people are all against legalized abortions, because that is not true. Women who dont want an abortion are 100% free to not have one, regardless of their religious beliefs or lack thereof.

(16,370 posts)They are free to make that choice whether abortion is legal or not. That is their right and their personal business.
If abortion is legal, then ALL women are free to make the choice they want for themselves without government interference. If it's not legal, then only those who oppose abortion are free to make the choice they want. See how that works?
The government is not making people have abortions they don't want, and that is as it should be. People have the right to make their own decisions about such personal matters, based on their own beliefs, not those of the government or people who happen to disapprove of certain choices.
